George... Thank you for helping the class grow, but I think you should only build boats for people just getting into the sport. This idea of the fast getting faster is not good for me.
Well you made me do it. This is the boat George & James Luce built for us. Picked it up in November. George then started the boat for Lonnie Morris right after this one was finished. Actually George is not building any more boats, this was a trade for Don Rusnak's 1975 Chev. Nova. The boat was totally complete with all hardware, paint and lettering. First race should be Franklin, Pa. Don will be the driver and will most likely have an additional DMR there. Just need a driver for the other rig. Finishing up a Merc C Mod engine and will try it on the new boat. The boat is real light and Grorge feels it will work. Thanks James & George for the great job on the boat.....Bob N-96

Man the runabout's look nice that you two are building. Have you ever made a 125ccR? I could use one.

Hi Al, yes George did a quality job on the boat. The workmanship is second to none. If we can swing it, we will have a new 250 VRP engine to run on it also. Jerry Davids ran a 250 on one of Georges Boats and did very well with it. Right now we will focus on the D Mod (750 cc) runabout and the 500 cc Runabout with the USTS. ....Bob N-96

                    • J Hydro update

Here is where Kyle is at on his boat now. All the bottom work is done and has one coat of epoxy on it. He spent the last week framing, fairing and planking the sponsons. We'll be flipping it back right side up tonight and getting the deck stringers in and the the nose molding installed.

Cliff Johnson stopped over Saturday morning and got to try out the low angle plane. He was instantly sold on getting one. He couldn't believe the cut that it gave. He also got to see a rabbetting plane in action. They are two tools that I couldn't do without.

So far, Kyle still has all his fingers. He is pretty good about safety and being careful.

                        Kyle,

You do good work !! Keep it up, the old man needs to retire ! Glad you have taken on the responility of building your own boat. You will soon learn the rewards of this. Lot cheaper than buying a new one, and it gives us something to do in the winter.

Great job, it looks good. Should be a real barn stormer !!

Is looking really good. I am sure you will be very happy with it.

Sad to see the old B&H retiring but I guess after 20yrs of beating in Region 6, it is well deserved.

Was built for Brad Hopper as a KG4/ 15 Hot Rod boat in 85 or 86 (that is the boat they put under the tree and Mom Hopper stepped through the deck in the middle of the night). Came to me in 87, I ran it in A w/ OMC and KG4MH for years, 97 or so (and several more repairs) then it went to Allan Eckert who ran J, K Pro & I think some A on it, then I think Mason's had it for awhile and lastly you guys. It was a great boat. Ran everything from a 60J to a 15 Hot Rod (and once a 25 Mod Merc - but only once, not my best idea).

                          • Not retired yet!

                            Brian,

You will be happy to know that it will be re-numbered for our younger son, who is named, and you will like this.....Brian.

He may just test this year, but is starting to show interest so he will get all the boat time he wants.

Kyle eats like me, so a lighter boat was in order from him. We were also tired of all the grief from everyone about building boats for everyone else but him.

I guess that good old boats just never quit. I'm sure that after our Brian is done with it, some other J racer will get started in it as well.

                            Steve.

                            • Glad to hear it has not been put out to pasture just yet. I always smile when I see that old girl head out on the water for another battle.

Probably one of the best driving boat I have been in.

Boy Steve, you and Kyle make boat building look easy!!! I have had a JDS CSH kit here for over a year now and have not even started building it (it looks very hard!).

you guys have built some unique sponson bottoms there on that new boat......is this another new concept you have designed?
