            Alix,
When did you start racing in the Westbrook club?
Silas's Grandfather was a member in the late 50's early 60's. [before you say anything you don't look that old] His name is Paul Charette and he was at the Standish 50th anniversary race in 09. [Sorry but I do not know of any photos of him racing.]

              • Old time racers....

I just heard from Pat Pickard through facebook. Pat is Danny's younger brother. He used to race against me in JU and then ASH in the 60's. Their father Ken Pickard, used to race ASH, BSH and then some MOD classes after he moved from Portland to Tennessee. He knew his stuff!!!!
I have also been in touch with Peter Parker (younger brother of Danny Parker) who used to race against me in JU!

I get your point Jeff but at least the pic of 125V is from '89 or '90. Just trying to be precise for my friend Michael J. Mackey.

Also, 45's did not start until '86 I believe.

                    I know, I know, 20 years, 30 years what's the difference?

                    • Parkers - Pickards

At one time in the late 50's pre-APBA and early 60's it was all about the Parkers and Pickards. Close families and close competitors. Ken Pickard and Doug Parker (My Dad) raced against each other in A and B. Danny Pickard and myself raced against each other in J and A and Pat Pickard and my brother Peter as well as myself raced against each other in J. 6 drivers in 2 families. And at the time we all really kinda dominated the classes we competed in.
I believe that newspaper picture that Peter Crowley posted above was from 1963.
Peter Crowley also can tell you a funny story about the announcers back then when we all use to race J together...... Dan Parker, Peter Parker, Pat Pickard, Peter Crowley, it was always a mouth full and they could never get all the names right at the start or finish. Great memories.

Glad to hear Danny Pickard may be back in 2011.

                          Hi John,

I thought they came out when the OMC A's did in '86. Were'nt they a "package" deal between OMC and the SORC?

Yes they were a package deal, but I'm in Florida & can't check my info at home as Chuck Z driving my Mirage & 45 won the second nationals for the class at ***. I'd have to see the date on the plaque, but you could be correct Bill.

I just checked my scrapbook which is on line under Skip Hagermans site & Chuck won in 1987, so you are right as Scott Barnikow won the first year which then would have been 1986.

                            Sorry for the confusion .

Cool boat, good racer, and I have to find a photo that I have from the local paper of him in his 20 runabout perpendicular to the water...GREAT SHOT! Last I heard he was sailing around the Atlantic...

Here is one of MY classic group shots...
