The 7N made the trip to Top-O one year driving a tan Jeep Comanche pickup. When he got back home to Fishers Landing he realized he made the round trip with a 1 7/8 ball and a 2" trailer hitch.
Very good. One year, Mike came with that same tan Jeep and the boat 'transomed up' against the cab and the nose over the tailgate. Pulled into the yard late at night and proceded directly to the campfire for race conversation and, of course, a few quality beverages. Ah, I really miss some of those old KampKurz memories.
Is it ever nice to know that Broc can still tell the best stories. Great pic,s...all of them.
These are my Dad's old pics they have been in the basement of my Mom's old house for years. They have both pasted on a few years back,I tried to find them to post here but couldn't find them .Then I looked in the last few pages of their wedding album and bingo! Figures my mom would keep them there.Just look at the crowd of people for a local outlaw race.

I wonder if the smaller boats that Wayne has pictured from the fifties were used on smaller bodies of water with less harsh water conditions. It seems to me that they didn't follow the trend of other, larger boats from that time frame.
A Stock Hydros in the very early 50s were typically 8 foot long, often built from magazine plans, with no air traps. Some were still single step. They ran pretty deep brass kamic props in some unbelievably rough water at nowherenear todays speeds. Craig Bowman could probably give a little better discription.

This was where I ended up pitting at the 1978 Stock Nationals in Saranac Lake, NY. This was before the carts were used (BC), so I had to carry my boat through the tennis court and over to the water.
