1)The 44N was built by Ron Waterson and raced in the Nationals in Michigan by Scott Reed in the 90's. I believe he finished 2nd. Jerry Davids bought it and had much success with it. The boat is still a front runner out west, do you know who has it?
2)50/50 raffle Crystal Lake mid 90's
3)Who is the mystery driver climbing in my BSR? (109-N) and who owned the 28 boat with the Christmas decorations?
4)This is the first CSR to roll out of Reed Racing Hulls shop in Fishers Landing. I think Scott is still pi$$ed that he had to wear that helmet because I forgot to bring his back._____________________________________________

I don't know, but the 7-N in the background has been seen on the lawn at KampKurz at least a couple of years. Come on KampKurz drivers, think Thousand Island area??

Last Blast
Jeff, This photo is from the BSR last blast at Mays Landing circa 1989. DVORA scheduled a farewell to the 20H, but did little to publicize it. Shanon and I decided to give the event a boost. Shanon happened to have a 20H in his shop with a fresh bore. We started calling all the old B runabout guys we could remeber. When they answered, Shanon would fire the 20H, I would stuff the receiver up the exhaust and Shanon would give the throttle a few blips. Without telling them who was calling, I would merely tell them, "Mays Landing, September whatever. Be there!"
On race day, we had a full field of 20H B runabouts and decades worth of guys with bad knees and limited hearing wandering the beach. Scott Hoffman won the race with his 40 cubic inch 20H. Except for Norm Brewington, who was forced to pit for oxygen shortly after start, the drivers appeared to be more up to the challenge then their less than "craclin" old iron. Zip Gallagher's crank rusted through and his rods fell out. Shanon's "new" 20h suffered a mysterious impellor failure. He came in on the hook, trailing a "smokie" cloud..
The antique oldboarders were in their heyday bidding on the carnage even before they were out of the water.
The picture shows the majority of B runabout drivers who were in the pits that day (Some had wandered off)and Pappy Stillwill who came out of retirement to referee the event.
The Photo:
Front row: Ray Hammond, George Pappy Stillwill, Shanon Bowman, George Gilchrest, Rich Runne, Mike Neal.
Middle row: Kevin Zip Gallagher, Craig Dewald, Craig Bowman, Dave Rode, Stan Kidd, Roger Hoffm,an, Scott Hoffman
Back Row: Bill Rosado, Charlie Spencer, Tom Barrett, Phil DiFebo, Ernie Fanslau, Sam Earl, R.C. Hawie, Bob Harry Austin, Norm Brewington, Conway Cohalan, Bobby Austin,Dave Dewald, Steve Hoffman, Scott Scholl, Dick Toone.Last edited by BROCCOLI; 01-23-2011, 08:53 AM.broccoli

Cooper, Did you seriously think that midwesterners were the only ones who could enhance the performance of an outboard?
The east, after all, was the home of the "southern A".
40 c.i may be a bit of hyperbole, but 40 over pistons have been known to exist.broccoli
