I thought the right thread for this topic would be under new boats, as, new boats need paint.
Has anyone yet used the woe is me hug a tree low VOC paints that we have to in the McGovernick state?
I just shot my step sons BMW fender where he ate a truck tire...I have to say, I was skeptic as all get out, because what usually happens when the woe is me hug a tree factor enters into play is whatever is done becomes more burdensome, and is never the same quality as before the government stepped in and tried to make something better...
This paint, by Dupont, requires 45PSI on the gun, it shoots well, can hardly get it to ripple, and over spray is a mere wipe off with a rag and you're done.
It's a 2 part mix, 50 being paint, the other 50 being the tackifier. Color match was right on. It s dry to sand in a half hour, 15 minutes if it's hot out. The downside, it is a flat to semi gloss paint, and requires clear coat, so, you still use the old non compliant paint they improved upon.... gotta love it!
Only time will tell if this paint endures like the good stuff. Anyone else have an experience with it?
great looking framework..... how do you get it out of the basement????
Not sure yet if I will be able to get it out of the basement... I did run the biggest pieces through the door before glueing them together though. There is of course the option of just removeing the foundation. Whatever it takes the boat will be on the course rather than stuck in the basement.

Hi Dave- Is this a Young designed boat? Little different than the boats of old. When I left racing back in 1970, your dad got the honors of running my CU Rebel Craft. Any grey hair he might now have was probably started with that boat. He gave it back pretty quick.
Tell Dad that the Olde Desert Geezer says HI.
Yeah I drew this one up on autocad but I end up changing everyhting as I go. The dreams of a complex design tend to get much simpler as it gets closer to getting it on the race course. Dad is starting his new hydro in his basement so Ive gotta get all his c-clamps back to him before I cause any more grey hair than I have already caused over the years. There isnt much real estate left for new greys Thanks Dad.

David-It looks like you better make sure you have room to build several J's for the third generation of Young racers. Kids look like they are having too much fun. You are going to need a bigger trailer.

So I got back a while ago from a 13 hour trip from southern Maine to NY and back to get my CSH!!! its solid and straight and will look nice after new paint. Have to start sanding this week! also I should get my crank back and be putting my 102 back together as well. Consider these 'before' pictures and I will be posting some progress and after pictures as it goes.
And as for my Lower Unit, Tom Cronk does great work for a reasonable price! here are some before and afters of that. First 4 are 'before' and last 2 are 'after'
