Wrong on the conrods. Take a closer look at the picture again. It's a new design...there is no bolt boss on these rods. These rods were not intended to be fracture split.
Take a break for the next 13 day.

25: Touche'. The OMC-style oil relief slots should have given that away. I just thought maybe I didn't remember that change.
Care to point out anywhere else my last post was in error???
Ed,
If this were a Mercury or OMC working with the SORC on developing a new motor, would we expect them to inform the racing public of the progress or the SORC's responsibility to stay in contact with the manufacturer and report to the membership? I've done the best I can to keep people informed and positive about the project but I am not the official voice of Racing Outboards or the SORC.

John: What do you suggest that the SORC tell the parent of a 14 year-old to buy for next year who is concerned that, in 3 years, the equipment might be worthless?
I would suggest that this question is the most important one facing the SORC for this annual meeting.

Hey, can you Pro racers guarantee me that Rossi, VRP, Konny, etc... won't make some motor/design changes in the next 3 years that will improve performance...ie...making the motor I buy today essentially worthless?
And Ed...chill out on the Sidewinder deal. You're getting a little "Toe-Knee" on us.
You are totally right, though about the 'A' speeds. ASH is too fast. Knock it down to run with the Mercs.
Ed, you are correct. It is a very important question that you pose. That is why you and the SROC should ask the question in a formal manner (read this, letter on letterhead stationary) to the manufacturer. It's fairly obvious that HydroRacer is not a forum for conducting business and this issue is business.

Sure, our motors can be changed as improvements are found.
Ed,
Give them the courtesy of a phone call to get the information you want then you inform everybody. It is OUR job as representatives of the SORC to inform the membership, not the manufacturer. The last time I spoke to Ed, he told me that they will announce their timetable when they are sure everything is on schedule from all the vendors, and I have made that public as best I can. Just like any business that manufactures any product, their schedule is dependant on their suppliers. They are not just pushing papers or handing the work to a secretary, they are building something made of alot of components. It only takes one of these components to be behind schedule to bring the whole project to a screeching halt. This company is very young and has very little clout, they cannot strongarm these vendors. When they are ready to announce, they will. Remember also, we need them a helluva lot more than they need this.
CALL THEM, PLEASE

[QUOTE]The rods photographed appear to be the ones begun by RH Little Co in the 80's that have been "ready for heat treating" for nearly 20 years.
Ed Hearn: In the past I have not participated in the juvenile banter on this site, but when you claimed that the picture I posted, was not what I claimed it was, you were calling me a liar! I take this as a personal attack on a public forum and it is not appreciated. I don't know what your agenda is regarding this project, I only know that you appear to be very much against it. My only consolation; based on the number of people at last weeks race, that implored me to ignore the BS on this site, and their obvious excitement regarding the introduction of the new engines, I truly believe you are in the minority.
