    Now everyone including Ron.

I love hot rods, sidewinders and boat racing.

Problem is we had not heard anything even when we ask questions.

Someone had to stir the pot.

We are now getting answers. Squeeky wheel gets some grease.

This is the most PR Sidewinder has gotten to this date.

    Thank you Tony
Just kidding. Thank you all for your hard work.

Ed, I believe that after all the heat Ron has had to take for not making deadlines in the past, he has decided not to set deadlines he cannot be 100% sure of making. He has told us, motors will be available when his vendors get him his parts. Unfortunetly for all of us(Ron and Sled included), we are going to have to live with that for now.

            Tlc

Quote I dont think tlc is needed with the Sidewinder as the times I tested it I whipped the piss out of it.

George, I guess I didn't make my statement very clear. By tlc I didn't mean baby the motor. But with good maintanence practices keep it running for a long time. I guess the point I was trying to make was that a motor is a longer term investment then a hull. After all the OMC's have been around sence the 80's and how long have the Hot Rods ran?

I will be buying the Sidewinder, and fully expect the motor to last 15-20 years. Sure I will have to maintain it, rering it sometime in the future ect.
            normal wear.

How about an answer to a series of questions that can be factual rather than estimates?

When were the cylinder blocks ordered?

              When were the rods ordered?

When were the carburetors ordered? Which one has been selected?

When were the crank cases ordered?

              When were the pistons ordered?

When were the wrist pins ordered?

When were the intake manifolds ordered?

              When were the reeds ordered?

              When were the cranks ordered?

              When were the flywheels ordered?

When were the gear housings ordered?

The last time I asked this series of questions was January of 2007 at the time the representation of a delivery date of June 1st was announced. The answer to each one of these save one (and I don't recall which one it was, I'd have to look at my notes), was that none of them had been ordered.

I am sorry to keep pushing for these answers. But in light of the committment that has been made by the Category to this project, I believe that the answers should be forthcoming. Ed Hearn, - 15 days to go.

                Better question

When was the check for your new sidewinder deposited?

Because unless they are holding your money - no one really has much room to complain. Oh, they can and they will but really, what is the point? And you say the Commission needs answers, or what? What exactly would the Commission do if the answers were "in another 2 year"? Besides complain, that is. Anything else?

Talk about an instant gratification society

"Hello, welcome to McDonalds, can I take your order?"
"Yes, I would like a new D motor but hold the up front cost and add extra parity."
                "Anything else?"
"Yea, give me a side of a brand new 15 motor with interchangable parts and the possibility of use in several classes. Oh, and rush this, because I'm in a hurry."
That will be $12.95, please pull around to the first window"

                  Ed,
After all this time, I can't believe it didn't occur to you to use a TELEPHONE! Do you really just want some answers or is there something else you are trying to accomplish on this public forum?

Stock Outboard is all about a level playing field.

True parity is one motor per class.

First of all I am happy that the new sidewinder is being built…/we need new engines.

But……….it amazes me that we put the Bass Brothers through the wringer for missing a deadline or two but we have a different tune for the Sidewinder project?

We were ready to pull the plug on the Bass Brothers Tohatsu project for missing a deadline of getting an engine to the Dyno.

I think Ed’s questions are legit. Racers want to know where the project is at.

Perhaps the answers would be more forthcoming if they were not asked in a public forum. I would recommend that a letter from the Stock Outboard Commision be sent to the Officers of the Sidewinder manufacturer. I suspect it would be answered.

                          curios

what if nobody even said they were building a new motor. THEN they show up with 300 new motors ready for purchase.HOW many are gonna sell.answer that then you will get your answers. for when sht was ordered. because what i understand is certain items were very expensive. and there trying to keep it cost efficient.OR YOU CAN PUT 300.000 in the bank and you take this risk. FINALLY everyone should be happy someone is putting the money and effort into this project.NEGATIVITY IS NOT THE ANSWER. HAVE A NICE DAY

Gee Dave, you finally get my humor.

By the way C Service Motors where 30 years old when I started over 40 years ago. I think the current Stock Motors and Classes will be around for another 50 years, if the sport is still around. So much for change.
