All that I'm looking for here is for you to stop hijacking these threads by throwing a wet towel over the production or in your words mis-production of the Sidewinder.

Also, the 402 isn't even used in stadiums for Kyotei racing yet.

Mis-production I don't think I'ved used that word, but I'll keep it in mind. Further more I take your comments as a compliment. Someone has to be FOX NEWS here.(FAIR and BALANCED) Tony

LOL! Your a funny guy Tony. Let me guess, you are a runabout racer.

I love the sport, not just a motor, and if this is what it takes(standing behind a company that will provide a future for our sport) then that is what I'll do.

My computer muscles are getting tired, Good night!

Let me see if I can make this simple enough for you, Tony. 1) In a previous post, you complained that we weren't making Hot Rod parts and offered up your father's inventory in support of the effort. I replied listing all the improvements we had made and all the new parts that were available. Also, you should check with your father before you made that offer - he has no intention of diluting his stock in that manner. 2) In this thread that you've started, its not real clear what you're complaining about except the fact that there's no one racing Hot Rods anymore. Again I replied stating the logic of what we're doing and pointing out that new Hot Rods are available. Still you complain. The only sensible conclusion is that you really want a brand new Hot Rod Tony. So I tell you what - you're coming to Jesup to run numberous heats, I'll sell you a brand new Hot Rod delivered on the spot. As I explained they are more expensive to make - the price for a rotary valve Hot Rod is $6800. Now, Tony, what have you got to complain about - parts are available, complete motors are available. You don't want a Sidewinder. So put up, or shut up Tony. Buy a motor at Jesup or stop your empty-headed jaw flapping.

            Keep on Truckin', Sidewinder

To Ron and Ed...you guys are the light at the end of the tunnel. Keep moving forward. While I too wish communication between Racing Outboards and the membership was better, the end result is all that matters. And that's new motors in production.

And for Tony.... Dude, come back down to Earth. Change is inevitable for survival. You ride a horse to work today, or drive a car? You lighting your house with candles or flipping a switch?

For the love of God...where is it written in this boat racing world of ours that we should never have to buy new equipment (motors)?

Why is it that every few years we are willing to buy new boats and yet when it comes to motors they are looked at as sacred?

Stock Outboard is all about a level playing field.

True parity is one motor per class.

                  Still no answer...

I still haven't gotten an answer to the question I would like to know and I think all of Stock Outboard would like to know: When will the new Sidewinders be available?

As I said earlier, we were told new 15's would be available by June the first. You might also recall that this statement was made at the Annual Meeting following the one where we were told that new engines would be available in July or August of 2006, over a year ago.

I have yet to hear any explanation as to what to expect. It is also interesting to me that some of the same people who were griping about the availability of the Bass/Tohatsu D are singing a different tune.

Tony: lay off! Run your Hot Rod in Mod or AOF. Ed.

Boats are a lot cheaper to purchase than a 5k engine. Now couple needing a new boat and a new engine, you have doubled your investment each year... kind of a hard pill to swallow for probably 80% - 90% of Mod & Stock outboarders. Most do not have factory backing from boat builders, or sponsors to purchase rigs with. You are left with a choice. True to form, most will choose the cheaper of the two.

That is just my opinion. I can't afford to purchase new equipment very often, so I took it upon myself to learn how to build the boats myself, so it is a lot cheaper.

There are no new engines cheap anymore. Pro engines are expensive to purchase new because the Euro is kicking the dollars butt. However, they are not much if any more expensive than a new stock outboard racing engine.

Tony, Where did you get the idea that you can't continue to race your old Hot Rod. The SORC has no plans to eliminate this motor for quite a long time. I've got a good feeling that it will blow up before you have to stop running it. Besides, if they just remade the old motors, who is gonna go out there and beat Eddie?!

Besides, buy a 4-5 k motor and maybe with some tlc it will last as long the the hotrods have! sounds like a good investment to me.

I dont think tlc is needed with the Sidewinder as the times I tested it I whipped the piss out of it. The crank rods pistons and bearings have about 70 hours of time on them with no problem. The data logger read between 10,000 to 11,000 every time getting on plane and the water temp read no higher then 240 even at the end of a long hard run. If you do need to take it apart you can tear it down to the crank and have it back together in a couple hours.

                                pricewise . . .

$4,500 is reasonable. Back in the 80's when me'n my son were racing I pre-ordered a pair of new OMC A engines. One could pick up an old KG-4 for a few hundred bucks then, and I think I paid 1250 or 1350 each for the OMC As. A few years later Sandy Claws ripped $2,000 from his checkbook and my son had a brand new 20ci Hot Rod!

Now about 20 years later a Sidewinder may cost $4,500. It's a deal. If I was still racing my cash would be on the line for a new ride. No fear about the engine. I believe the *delay* is because Ed and Ron are picky and want an engine that is perfect, and I believe those two have the talent and skill to make the engine perfect.
