  • Very short D drive shaft

We checked with our machine shop and we will be able to produce drive shafts to order. The only requirement will be for us to include them with a normal order so that we don't have to run one at a time. As time moves on we should be stocking parts to cover both the stock and mod racers.

    • Rings

Back in the 60's we produced piston rings used by a lot of folks in the northeast. If there is a need for aluminum dead rings we can start making them again. Here is a like where they re talked about. http://cbf.hyperboards.com/index.php...d=349&latest=1

      • Doug Kay 44 MOD engine

I thought I would post some photos of a Doug Kay 44 MOD engine that was done for a racer up in the north east. The internals basicly followed the Harry Brinkman manual and I beleive the engine is a work of art.

We now have in stock cones and bearing carriers for the A/B/C/D lower units along with bearing and seal kits. Currently we have water pump cartridges and dor all the lower units in production that should be available by the end of July. Our D drive shafts are going a bit slower than we like but should be avilable by sunmmers end, a bit lat for this season. Check our wedsite for prices: aeroliner-boats.com

          • my dad raced a eleven foot speedliner in the early fifties. It would not turn, he put alot of holes in the bottom trying to find the right spot for the fin. We never thought to put it on the out side edge. He turned over six times on season, after he got the 20h to run on alcohol. The speed was around fifty six miles perhour. The swift hydro ran sixty to sixty two. Doc Miller

            • Merc Reproduction Parts

David and I have been making progress with our parts reproduction endevor. We now have cones and bearing carriers for the A through D quicksilver lower units along with D water pump cartridges. The D drive shafts are in production and hopefully they will be available in another 6 weeks. We have also found a way to get the solid model of the D foot and if all goes well we should machine a prototype over the winter. We will post photos once things get underway. If you would like to see the parts we now have visit our website at aeroliner-boats.com. In the furture we hope to do D prop shafts but chrome plating seems to be very costly to get done. We would like to know if anyone has a good source for hard chrome plating.

                • Lower unit tools

David and I have decide to reproduce the Mercury tool to remove water pump cartridges. These tools reall save a lot of effort when pulling a unit down. We will make the two sizes. A/B/C and the D units to cover all quicksilver lower units. Expect to do a production run of 12 of each. If anyone has any ideas on attitional parts or tools that we should look at making please let us know.

                  Thanks,
                  Alan

                  • One of the most popular and hard to find tools ever for 4 and 6 cylinder Mercs are the piston ring compressors that reach around the crank and hold the rings while you load the pistons into the block.

                    • Ring compressors

                      Hi Sam,

I beleive that OldMercs.com has the ring compressors for sale on their website. I beleive that they are over $250 the last time I check. If I can get a good price from our machine shop it might be worth looking at. I know that my sets get a work out. The early one had brass slippers and the later plastic.

                      • Lower unit tools

David and I have started the manufacture of the tools to remove the water pum cartridge from a lower unit. They will be made in A/B/C size and D. To start with we are having 12 of each made using an original tool we had as a sample. We also found a tool that we did not know existed from Mercury that was uncovered in an old box of Merc tools we bought. It id the thread chasser used to clean up the quicky cone threads. We will make 12 of each size. Watch our website aeroliner-boats.com for price and availability.

Note: Cartiridge pullers have been started.

                        • 20H/25SS swivel connectors

Do you have/make the swivel connectors that fit on top of the carb for these motors? My connector broke on my 20H and I need a new one to be able to connect the throttle cable to. They are a brass fitting that I need to replace. If you have any of this part, I could use two of them. Thanks for any help.

                          • J HotRod parts

I have found a bunch of J HotRod parts and trying to find out what they are worth. Have three new crankcases, three new cranks, and three new blocks plus uper end caps, pistons and a bunch more. There is also a complete HotRod J engine. I will post photos after I unpack all the parts.

                            • Hard chrome

Try Chrome-Mex, my spelling may be off, but they are in Addison Illinois. They used to do crank journals for us on many of the Toro groundsmaster equipment, Toro wanted $1,600 for a crank and no one produced undersize bearings, so, we chromed the journals for $80 a pop, then had them turned to spec for another $50.00.

                              • New prop design

I have two very unique props. They are claimed to be 10 mph faster than any 3 bladed unit but vibration is a little much. One is a Seebod
/Record C hydro wheel and the other is a Michigan. On a serious note I have found an APBA Race Program and was trying to determine the year. Great photos of Luce, Brinkman, Weinert, Fales, Terrill, Vanover, Aveline and others inside.
