    • Garage Sale

David and I were at at a garage sale and picked up a few things. What we now intend to do is offer three of our boats as complete packages. Two will be with Green and Gold Mark 20-H's and the third will be a 20-H conversion. All will have new Keller hardware. Also the Green and Golds will have the Mercury fuel pump conversion kit or with the carter setup if desired. The photo is the parts we obtained which includes at lest 3 complete 20-H engines in bits and pieces. We will post photos when the first completed setup is done.

      • Brinkman Parts

David and I have acquired all of the Brinkman parts and engines. Our goal is to continue the tradition of building MOD engines and to re-issue his book on Mercury engine modifications updated with his last notes. Doug Kay will be doing all the machine work and we expect to have everything in place over the winter to continue the Brinkman tradition. We will also be selling some selective parts that we do not need. Additionally we expect to contine offering a number of his standard parts. Our parts that we currently are making for Quicksilver lower units are continuing to arrive. We have added a store section to our website aeroliner-boats.com that is still under construction listing what we currently have available.

Are you doing this in cooperation with Steve Roskowski, instead of Steve, or in competition with him?

          • Brinkman Parts

David and I started racing with APBA in 1956 when I was running a Merc Mark 20-H on a Speedliner M-510. In 1965 Carl Peterson of General Marine offered us the plans and patterns for the Speedliner M510 when David was picking up our third boat and one of the last Speediners B runabouts produced by Speediner. In 1966 we built the first of a long string of M-510's we sold in the loacal New York area. Today we are still building the boat from the same plans and patterns we bought in 1965. During this time frame we also started producing reproduction parts for the A,B, and C Quicksilver lower units which we sold at races in the North East and to folks in our loacl club, EORC.

An addition that we added a couple months ago is the capability of producing Sid Craft boats under licence. We will also provide restoration services for the boats.

In the Early 70's I started Aeroliner Marine and became a Mercury dealer in Oakdale Long Island N.Y. After becomming a Merc dealer we supported the local stock outboard racing comunity and provided parts at my cost to the folks we raced with. Although I sold my Mercury dealship several years ago David and I started Aeroliner Boats LLC and we are still building parts, but have expanded what we used to do, and are still produce high quality parts at a reasonable and affordable price. If you go to our website aeroliner-boats.com you will find a new store section that we are building with the parts that are currently have in stock or arriving shortly.

When the Harry Brinkman parts and assets became available it offered us a way to support the mod folks and allow us to expand the services that we have offered for over four decades. We will now offer mod engine building services through Doug Kay and contine to produce parts such as the Brinkman H legs to the hight standard of excellence that Harry was know for. A goal we also have is to re-issue Harry's book on how to Modify a Mercury with all his lates notes added.

So Sam, I guess the answer to your question is that we have entered the competive markent place and will be offering parts and modification services to the boat racer that require it.

            • It was my understanding that Harry had given Steve his very last notes and his blessing to make a new edition of the How To book. Maybe you have Harry's next to last notes

If you need a solid D cone we will add a couple to our next run. I have a few solid A/B cones left that we found while we were going through boxes.

                • To Whom it may concern

i Spent the last 6 months of Harry s life with him finishing up some Engine obligations he had . I went up there every weekend from the end of September into January 2008. and about 2 weekends a month there after until his ( Harry 's) passing

Part of Harry s and my agreement, was that i finish a Cmod engine for Roger Hueson from California, Help him finish his personal Cmod engine and Revise His manual in hope s of Publishing a how to "modify your mercury 3"

5 pages of which harry and i had revised when harry passed away.
in return harry was going to teach me how and let me port an engine for myself and Bevel a crank etc...
As well as supply all parts for a kick ass 44 cu inch 750 mod engine for me as a return for my efforts on his engine work and help!

of Which all came to pass!

also harry had asked me to sell any thing i could sell for a small commission

at that time i started putting his equipment up for sale !

alan van wheel made an offer for the rights to harry s manual and most of all the engine parts he (Harry) had available !

i was present when harry at close to his time of death, left it all up to his brother Mike

Now after harry had passed away, i was also present when alan van wheel and Mike closed the deal for the purchase of harrys parts and all the rights to harry s manual

Alan has all legal rights to reproduce harrys manual and update as necessary.

at some time approx 2002 Steve Rosikowski had helped harry update the manual "How to Modify your Mercury 2" manual in trade or what ever.

Steve has NO rights to harrys manual what so ever! As harry did not sell them to him

I had asked harry about the sale to Alan Van Wheel and harry said yes it was for sale and he could get it for a price !

So if there is any Question i suggest you check it out also with Mike

but in fact i was there witnessed it all and will stand behind Alan as he is Now the owner with all rights to Harry Brinkmans Howto Modify Your Mercury Manual

                  Sincerly

                  • Just to clear the air a little

                    Sam,

I worked with Harry on the issue of his manual that came out around 12 years ago or so. I did this more or less as a favor for him rather than try to profit from it. I did all of the illustrations for it and helped out with some text editing. This was also before I was doing this stuff on the computer with software. The drawings were all hand inked velums. I sure hope that Harry kept them somewhere safe! That was the end of that phase.

Once he ran out of the manuals he had printed up, there was a dilema caused by it all being saved on some older text editing machine that we couldn't pull the data from. I had talked to Harry several times about getting it transposed onto a more contemporary format that would be easier to both edit and recover. At that time his health was starting to worsen and to be honest, he had far more important things to deal with than the manual. I prodded as hard as I thougt I could, but had to respect the fact that he was facing the inevitable and wasn't worried about the manual nearly as much as a handful of boatracers were.

For the record, I never made any claim to the manual to anyone in private or public. I resent the implication that Randy has made here. I was simply helping him out years ago with the manual and tried to keep it available after the first run was out. End of story.

I look forward to the new release. I realize that since Harry and I did this for fun and information, that there was no written agreement, or even the need for one. I also realize that the new owners of the manual have no obligation to even give me credit for all of the drawing work, but I'd sure hope that they will so I can still be a small part of this modified outboard history.

Thanks for letting me set this all straight.

I for one am very fortunate for all that Harry taught me. He was a huge influence in getting me into this whole racing mess that consumes me today!

By the way, Harry's brother is Mick, not Mike, at least use his name correctly!

                    • Brinkman Manual

                      All,
It is my intent to publish the third addition of the manual and to provide credit to all the folks that contributed to it in the past and present. I would like this third addition to be a tribute to the exceptional racer that Harry was and a true inventor of go fast technology. Steve, I thank you for your post and I would like to contact you if you would provide me a chance to talk with you about how the third addition should be structured some time in the furture. I would like to do an introduction section on Harry's life as a boat racer with photographs and text that covered his racing exploits. Also I think its inportant to cover the production of parts along with his outstanding modification work. If it possible I would also like to get a list included in the manual that cover the current owners of Hary Brinkman engines. My e mail address is apvw1@aol.com or you can reach me through aeroliner-boats.com

                      Respectfully
                      Alan van Weele

Sorry i did not mean to imply anything other than the fact that Alan Had purchased all rights to harrys manual !

Based on what Sam posted, was where the impression came from in regards to the rightful owner of harrys manual!
Obviously Sam got this impression from some where.

i was simply clearing up the air and stopping any confusion before it got a running start

Alan Van Wheel had called me and requested that i clear up the air as to the rightful owner of said manual. Due to the fact that i set it all up,and was witness to all trades so to speak

harry was the one that made the offer of a commission and i was merely also doing all this to help out my friend harry out, and never expected him to pass as quickly as he did, and have not ever received any commission or profit as you put it!

By the way Harrys Brother's true name is Mike, Mick was a nick name that harry called him. I too Assumed Mick was his name and called him that until
Harry was fast to correct me on this at time of starting all this in September 2007

so in fact the name is used Correctly

                        Best Regards
                        Randy

                        • Thank yous to all parties for clearing this matter up. I'm sure I was not the only one confused by what was going on.

                          • When we decided to produce the D drive shafts we had some made with 5 inches of spline that will allow the MOD folks to cut them to length without having to use a coupler. We also had some made in the Q length for the restoration engines that need them.

                            Alan
Alan i am just wondering will 5 inches be enough as some racers are using tower housings that are approx 7 inches tall ?
can they be safely made with more than 5 inches of spline ?

Just a little food for thought
