    Leveling the field...............

The only way you are going to be sure the fuel will test out without any disagreements is to have fuel at the race site that is both known acceptable and affordable for everyone, just like NASCAR.. You really don't know what you are getting when you go into a station and fill your cans. The way companies are dealing, you might get 87 oct. or on a good day, you might get 104 av gas. It all depends on what was delivered. You never know...................

They do something like that in some Go Kart classes. Everyone brings as much gas as they plan on using .... it all goes into a single container and you get back as many gallons as you put in ... everyone uses the same gas. It would work in Stock, but not Mod.

In a few states they do random octane testing and the fines for being below rating are pretty stiff. In Maryland 87 is 87 (or better) and 91 is 91+ or else! Here in MD they test and fine very heavily .... most of the stations that get caught are mom and pops near the borders that get gas on the sly from the state next door ... where octane isn't tested.

            Fuel solutions

            Gents,
I propose that for Nationals events like Dayton or Top o'Michigan that race organizers do what we did years ago....... get an automotive gasoline distributor to donate the appropriate fuel for the race. Yes, I know it was years ago but I remember the days when the Mobil or Texaco truck was parked in the pits at the Marathon Nationals in Trenton. MI giving each registered entrant 10 gallons of gas and a decal to put on his boat !
I think the solution for Mods is to legislate the use of 100 Low Lead AvGas. It is federally standardized across the country and every racer east of the Mississippi lives within 20 miles of an airport ! Mike Marshall Raceboat61-S

                Insuranse issue?

I myself have seen fuel trucks at diff. places, as i recall it was somewhere where there was a gate out front.
I would say sell some hot dogs.

Evryone no's they cheat in mod, only normal org left.
Mod , racing is one of the few places you can actually watch a boat race.

Bout time fer some some Seldom Scene.

You can call me, you can call me,and you can call me, hell i guess anything you want, since it's Long distance.

In the greater Tampa Bay area and central Florida all gas should be as marked. The gas traditionally comes through the Port of Tampa, at least this was the case as of April 2002. The gas is transferred into massive holding tanks and the gas companies draw from the same tanks. Only one company puts an additive in the gas. So if you are buying gas in the area there is no difference. Gas stations are regulated by the Florida Department of Agriculture, and the current Agriculture Commissioner Charlie Bronson is wicked tough. If you are buying fuel in Florida, you can be sure you are getting what is marked on the pump.

Last year at AOF Nationals a handful of guys in 102SH were tossed out due to failing the fuel meter. Possibly it is a Nationals thing where people try to push the envelope.

Maybe its just me, but no matter which fuel (87-92) or oil (Evinrude-Yamaha) I use my boat pushes my fat butt around the course at the same speed.

I watched a mod race in LaGrange Mo awhile ago , it was every bit as excitinge as any pro race i 've seen lately.
                                Noise was normal also.
