I would pay an extra 20.00 a day twards an official turn judge to keep
the show running smoothly.
I have been bitten like many others on bias or no call from the turn judges,
and ever since I take great pride in making calls when my turn in the boat
occurs.
It has been brought up recently and at the Nationals about the overlap
rule. I like the pro rule and will petition the SORC to adopt that rule.
The way our current rule is written endangers all of us in the sport and
needs to be reexamined.
Hey anyone wanna nominate me for the SORC? I can be a real
hard-ss on rules, and safety.

I would vote that anyone caught cheating would receive at least one
year beaching and not allowed to compete in that years or next years (Depending on when the infraction is caught) Nationals regardless of whether or not it was borrowed equipment or their own. I feel disqualification at that moment is less than a slap on the wrist.
See I told you I was a Hard---

the wrist.
Mike-
I hope that's where the money from our final heat of ASR might be heading. I understand the race committee was under the gun so to speak as far as the weather was concerned, but the outcome of that heat not run could possibly affect the outcome of the Hall of Champions inductees and HI-Point titles at the end of the year. Did that ever cross the minds of those who decided to pull the pin? I left with a bitter taste in my mouth. But to Eddy and all involved with the banquets and celebrations, kudos. The auction was a great idea and a blast.
Hey Mike,
that sounds like a good idea. Maybe we could even get people to volunteer for those jobs so some people wouldnt have to spend as much. volunteers work on the judges stand or turn boats, so why not this too? but if that wont work, hiring someone would.
But I've got an even better idea..how about the people that sign up for patrol boat show up!
I'd like to say thanks to everyone who put so much time and effort into the nationals. I know there are a lot of people who work behind the scenes that aren't mentioned. so thanks to all of you!
the banquets were very impressive. i think thats how all the banquets should be at the nationals, so thanks to everyone who put those together too.
in regards to the patrol boat issue: We don't need an official to cover this. Everyone should be responsible for themselves and when they sign up. Bottom line: show up when you sign up, if you can't, find a replacement in advance, don't wait till the last minute!!
Had an awesome time, can't wait till Wakefield!!!!

The pro rule works and alot of people respect it. It saves on alot of controversy due the obvious reason someone can come over at any time and you wont be able to complain about it because it is fair/legal.
Some people call it a "chop", some peolple call it "not lettin you inside", if you are afraid of being "chopped" dont take the inside, there is alot of race course to choose from.
Mike...I think you have a valid point. Turn boat offilcials especially at a national race should not be pulled from the driver pool but should be hired. I think that will help enforce the impartiality of the calls. Just my one cents worth.
In the faster pro classes it works well, I run OSY400, I know how it works in a stock type class (it can be scary). Someone should look at the number of accidents in CSH vs OSY400, in my opinion the Pro rule should be changed to match the stock rule.
I agree if you're on the inside, look to get wet if your not right beside the outside boat, the throttle works both ways, even at Nationals.
I think the PRO overlap rule works well because drivers don't try to "force" an overlap - I know, as the trailing boat, that if the driver in front of me has his gearcase past my sponson, I'm in a bad spot and I need to prepare for it.
I also realize that this would be a change from everything that drivers in the stock category have learned, and change is never easy, even if the drivers decide they want it.
Joe Pater walked past the field in 25ssr. Because of fuel? I think not. It was because he is dedicated, hard working, and deserving. This fuel has passed all tests in the past with multiple inspectors.
He was wrongly DQ'd because his fuel/oil mixture 'smelled different'.
He was reinstated because his fuel passed all the requirements spelled out in the rulebook.
After being informed his fuel was even being questioned (despite passing the tests), he ran crap fuel from down the street in CSH. Luckily it passed the meter, didn't burn up his engine, didn't require carb adjustment, worked with his timing, etc. And he still walked the field in CSH. Well except for his other rig on the water...
