Thank you to all those that helped out with AJ's rig and getting the Jennings trailer packed up Saturday night. Also to all those drivers that donated towards his Kevlar and Lifejacket replacement fund. He is at home resting but is pretty sore.
Congratulations to all the new National Champions.

AJ is home and healing. He has a bruised chest plate, a small cut on his face and a bruise on his upper arm. Other than being sore he's doing great.
Alex and I would like to thank everyone for all their support and help. From loading our trailer, taking me to the hospital (dad rode in the ambulance with AJ), loaning him dry clothes, and all their prayers... And Dean Sutherland and Mark Miskerik for taken up a collection to replace all his safety gear which was all cut off him, including his life jacket. Which the ER Doc said saved his life due to the impact shield.
I truly believe his angel's in heaven were with him in the 1st turn....I always say a little prayer when AJ or Alex leave the beach.. Asking the following angel's to ride with them and keep them safe. Pop-Pop, Uncle Bow, Kathy & Brandt...
If anyone would like to call him at home 610-497-1364. I'm sure he'll be going crazy just laying around....
Congrats to all title winners...especially my teammate Amy Nydahl! This long haired softspoken young lady turns into a machine when her Dad pulls the rope. Job well done!
To the Race Committe job well done...up to the point in which the finals were to be completed on the course to the south. No matter what course we ran on it was an OCEAN! I have expressed my opinion to a few of the committe members...but at least no body was SERIOUSLY INJURED!
Who else feels it was a poor decision to complete the finals in that mess? I thought Sunday was the Blow Out date...at least the circular said so. I was told Sunday was not an option.
Lisa Im glad AJ is ok and just needs to heal I know he was having a ball up to that point of the races. If he needs to borrow a cut suit and jacket till he gets new ones he can use mine. Thanks to Alex and AJ for all the help this past weekend to and for the platic wrap for my arm to keep the water out of the cut. Going to wrap left leg in bubble wrap just in case I bang it again, twice in less then a month and in same spot. See you in Lock Haven and tell AJ to get better soon.
Destiny is a matter of chance,it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.
Bottom line: we raced on the other course because it was taking us WAY TOO LONG for turn boat changes. This bites us every year at the Nationals and then drivers/families complain that it is 8 pm by the time we get off the water. Nice banquets Friday and Saturday nites messed up because we as a group can't get our act together.
1 hour turn boat changes, come on. How do we fix this? Scott Glossner would call names at least 3 heats before the end of a set. There were plenty of pens and paper at registration, write down when your turn is and show up BEFORE the set is over, this is'nt rocket science.
Maybe next year we deisgnate the commissioners to make sure that the drivers from their region are there on time. Anyone have any other ideas?

I agree patrol boat changes take too long, BUT, when we worked the turn boat we were waiting on the course with all boats in place for more than 20 minutes on Saturday. We were told over the radio that the delay was for a racing engine change between flights. I also was told that inspection was shut down for a half hour at one point Saturday due to fuel issues, which may have added to the delays.
Had a great time with family and friends in Dayton though, and wish AJ the best!!

Bill,
I agree about turnboat changes. I know that Jon Brewster and I had the same trouble at Franklin with drivers. It is one thing to wait for the rescue crew, they are out there all day. But drivers are only out for 1 set. I know Jack Stotts, Paulie and a few others did more than their share at Franklin and I am sure that others did the same at Dayton.
How about if you do not show up for your assigned turn boat, judges stand or inspection duty (or send a replacement), you lose any points received during that race?
Or a list of those that did not do their duty gets posted in Propeller?
Right on!! The turn boat issue 125V brings up is a minor sidebar. Wind at Dayton is a fact of life and I agree with you that Sunday was advertised as the blowout day and every day at Dayton the water was fine from 8am till 12noon......................
It was sad to see (or not see due to the sun) several classes, especially the J's have to run on a difficult makeshift course with a different clock at the most important single race of the year when we had Sunday to compete........................Veteran Ron France was so depressed about it he and Pat packed up and left.
The race committee did what they had to do however and got it done given the news that apparantly Sunday was not a blowout day after all. Hats off to Ed, Bob and company for making the best of a bad situation.
The qualifying banquet was spectacular. Thanks to Forshey for all the 'effects'. What a great idea to combine the qualifiers banquet with the 'finals' drivers meeting. It was great to have 'all' the drivers there together......................Dana's announcing was outstanding as always!
I think the answer to the delays in reguards to the turn boat changes need to be solved by hiring officials to due this job. Every other form of racing has officials that due this chore. If we had officials we would now have almost 4 more hours of racing that could be done. I agree an hour to change turn judges is a little long but the reality is what it is. I think every racer would not have a problem throwing in say an extra 5 bucks each to help offset the cost to pay these officials. We have to figure out a way to get the show run quicker and not having to stop when we get things rolling. What we spend to race is cheap compared to other racing venues. The turn boat calls would be fair and not bias as the officials would not be racers. I am one who someday will not be a active racer. I would be more than willing to this job and I am sure there are quite a few other retired racers that would like to stay involved by becoming officials at the races. This is the way we can make more time to race and get the show done on time every time. Lets put our heads together and make this become reality. Mike
Someone has to be in charge and you have to designate your turn judges at the first drivers mtg. for the whole weekend. If they can't do it, they have to find their replacement. Then the announcer starts about 4 heats to the end of the flight with a designated mtg. spot for them. They are waiting for the turn boats and are out when the boat hits the beach.

I would pay an extra 20.00 a day twards an official turn judge to keep
the show running smoothly.
I have been bitten like many others on bias or no call from the turn judges,
and ever since I take great pride in making calls when my turn in the boat
occurs.
It has been brought up recently and at the Nationals about the overlap
rule. I like the pro rule and will petition the SORC to adopt that rule.
The way our current rule is written endangers all of us in the sport and
needs to be reexamined.
Hey anyone wanna nominate me for the SORC? I can be a real Hard-ss on
rules, and safety.
