The year the 302 (restricted) was allowed in 20SSH ASH was the largest class and it was not even close. There were 3 or 4 classes larger than 20SSH and it was in a 10 year plus decline. Congrats on the recent growth.

Perhaps you would like to explain to me how and why the 302 (restricted) got approved into the class?

Please don't compare todays apples with yesterdays oranges.

        • Are you saying the 302 in 20ssH helped grow the class? .... And a new motor in A has led to a decline in numbers?

          I'm confused. Please elaborate.

We are not talking about ASH. Start a thread about it.

Not being a smart ass, just trying to stay on topic

            • How did you take that post you replied to personally? I was not referring to you at all, but since you bring up the A hydro, you pride yourself in " helping new people" in the sport,, that's great, but don't sell someone that an it iwll work as an A boat when it's maybe a small J boat, and then just for example lets examine the rest of my trying to get a new person into boat racing, we spent the long dollar for a " pond" motor that was a POS,, then we purchased a ASR from ED H. That had the transom falling off of it, then we purchased a boat for marathon that the bottom fell out of the first run,, then I tried to buy some ply wood from pav over at pleasant prairie and was told they were too busy to getting out of there trailer, then I ran over to Brighton to run 25 as a favor for Jeff so he could get high point for the year, and he could not return the favor a year later at okoee, then at big rapids that fall we lost myself and zztop out of 25 because we only had 3 boats and Tom s would not put his boat on the water to even start so others could have a chance to run, in all cases the "racers were thinking of themselves, and not for the good of boat racing as a hole, I could g on but what's the point

Not talking about ASH at all.

I am simply and clearly saying the 302 was introduced in 20SSH to save a class in clear decline.

Please look at the membership trend in 20SSH for 10 years before the introduction of the 302 in 20SSH and the trend after the introduction of the 302.

                • Anyway, all the BS doesn't matter, about 6 years ago I posted on her that the sidewinder should start with its own class and that the first year that they were available that Ron should lease them out so that they could tune them and that APBA could place the engine accordingly,, I thought that it should go int a class by itself to salve all these problems that have reared its ugly head since the intro of the SW,, IMO, the SW should have been put into 15SS period.

But like you said don, you have done more on your little pinkey than I have ever done, and anyone from " outside"the " family" don't know s"it

                  • How would I not take that personally, you just got done indicating that we cheated. You were responding to my post. Besides you said all, so you still didn't tell me what I did...

Well other than your delusional thinking that I sold you a small J boat when it was run in A for 10 years.

                    • The problem with your proposal is that it requires current 20SSH racers using 302's that are restricted to vote against an unknown (SW-20) engine with strong upside potential that they can buy versus a single example of a dominant motor sold by someone politically connected that is cheaper, even with a pedigree.

Who would not strongly consider the 2014 Closed Course Champ 20SSH Y-80 with the Nationals winning prop for 4K? Still cheaper than a SW-20. And it may even come with a t-shirt.

Boat racers that have been around will choose the latter. Newer racers may or may not pick otherwise. We have been using newer racers as a revolving door for outdated and used up equipment for long enough.

Not to beat a dead horse but is the proposal in the best interests of you, the class, the sport, or the organization?

Thats rhetorical, you don't have to answer.

Don, my apology reguarding the merc rings, like I said it started with a question, but you are correct that I took a jab, sorry

                        • Never said that Todd, there are a lot of people that do a lot for racing, and many more than I do.

Are you saying keep the Y80 and Y302?...or remove one? Or Both??

Don, my posts in this thread are just a scenario of recent experience of some racers that tried to get into or back into the sport and felt like they were ran off,,,, I'm sure we are not the only ones that feel this way and won't be the last, nothing personal, really

I don't remember being too busy to get the would out of the trailer. If that's the case, then I apologize for that.

That could be why now we just unpack by throwing everything on the ground when we get to the race.
