  • Agenda items for stock meeting

I have sent Ed the agenda with all the stuff sent to me. He is working on adding some things to it I am sure. I am amazed at how few commisioners have sent me stuff. Thank you Matt, Tony, Jeff, Rodger for your stuff. I added it to what Ed has. For all the chatter here on Hydroracer I thought I would get bombarded with stuff to talk about. Remember the meeting is were we can change things for this year and years to come. I was also amazed when I started a thread asking our current engine maunfactures to provide the SORC and the general racing public about how we stand in reference to motor availability, prices, parts and so on. I was sent Sidewinders statement by another racer. Nothing from the other Manufactures or there spoke person. If we are going to aprove new motor options I would think a good understanding of were we stand would for sure help the SORC make good sound decisions. Remember that at the beginning of the meeting we give each manufacture a chance to update and report on there brand. Maybe they are waiting to give us that illustrious sales presentation.. Any just my take on things. Mikey dubber75m@comcast.net

      Region 1 checking in

      Mike,
Just so's you know's.. I've sent a mailer out to all the Stock Outboarders in Region 1 asking for their thoughts and ideas and reminding them of the Nat mtg. I've received several responses and anticipate more. I sent it out a last Thursday.

Personally, I think my mailer was a little late getting out. But, I also think APBA needs to hammer this subject a little harder, earlier. But maybe I'm the problem. I don't know. The process seems a little helter-skelter to me, based on what I saw at last years mtg. And, as a result, we had some decisions/votes which weren't founded on facts, along with some that were.

So, with the meeting only a few weeks away, it's going to be interesting once again. But we'll do our best.

Ed will add what he thinks is important and we will add to the agenda anything else that is important to talk about. You will all get to see it weeks before the meeting. Be patient and make sure your commissioners get what your people are concerned about to us so we can address it. Maybe go back and take a look at last years agenda or even the 2008 agenda and refresh your memories on what was passed and what you liked and disliked. It's under the APBA website under downloads. Where motors stand

Where is the statement by Mercury.

Not a motor builder that fishes around the marina and finds one to reclaim for racing.

Mercury the company, a representative for the manufacturer that can speak on the behalf of Mercury. On their letterhead.......

Please post it here. While we are at it lets get one from OMC, Tohatsu and Yamato. From the factory.

So while we are at it, we want to see from all of them their…

            Their corporate strategic plan…
            Their core strategies…
            Their initiatives going forward…
            Their vision plan…
            Their strategic foresight…
            Their entrepreneurial spirit…
            Their research and development data…
            Their marketing plans…
            Their inventory levels
            Their P & L statements…
Would also be nice to know how strong their banking relationship is to ensure funding for business needs and growth…

I’ll get back to you all with more questions in a few days…

Have to go pick up Donny’s Christmas present.

Update on Sales – RPM Marine has 62 model 302 motors in stock.. During the 2009 fiscal year 9 complete motors were sold.

Yamato 4 Stroke: Yamato is using the motor at one of their racecourses for one race per day for the purpose of testing and refining the motor. No expected production date has been announced.

General: Yamato Motor Co. LTD is pleased to see that the efforts of the SORC with the CSH, CSR, 20SSH & 25SSR classes have resulted in a good quantity of participants. We hope that the SORC will continue this trend in the future and that the Yamato Motor Co. LTD can continue to assist with Stock Outboard’s racing needs.

              Thank You

Manufacturers update - Bass Machines Tohatsu

Right now, you can purchase a brand new Bass Machines M50D2 whether you live on the left coast or the right coast or any place in-between. Just phone 360-373-3839 and speak to Sid Bass, or 207-737-4570 and ask for Alex.

If you're an APBA member, you should already know that APBA has purchased two motors explicitly for APBA "racing" members, which are assembled and ready to go. The price is $6500, FOB Bass Machines, Bremerton WA.

Additional engines are currently available to racing members of other recognized boat racing organizations as well. Contact Sid Bass, 360-373-3839

Parts and technical assistance is available: Questions regarding availability of Towers, lower units, and transom brackets for the Bass Machines M50D2 Tohatsu, as well as other engine applications should be addressed to Sid Bass. The tower and gearfoot currently being supplied for the 50 Tohatsu incorporates a water pump utilizing the readily available Merc 500 impeller. The lower unit is available in 1 to 1, overdrive, or underdrive gear ratios. The gearfoot is dynamic in design, has proven reliability, is easily disassembled in the event a propeller needs to be pressed off the shaft due to a sheared pin.

For Tohatsu parts availability and pricing and/or questions of a technical nature, you can contact Alex Poliakoff, Richmond Aero Marine, 207-737-4570. Parts " for Competition Only " are available at a considerable discount off MSRP to racers only. And, they can be delivered to your doorstep or even a race-site (just need an address and phone number) the following afternoon if need be. Boyesen reeds, t32 or t32R are also available separately or mounted on reed blocks. MC/Visa accepted. Email: netohatsu@myfairpoint.net

The Bass Machines Tohatsu has shown itself to be extremely competitive, durable, and economical to maintain.

                        Gentlemen,

I am not bitter and there are no sour grapes. If you are willing to debate facts I am all hears. There is a great deal of misinformation perpetuated here.

My point about Mike Ross's original post was the Racing Outboard and Sidewinder are held to a different standard than the other manufacturers out there.

I challenged myself and the elected commissioners to do what was best for the sport of boat racing. Not what was good for them individually. In a sport with so much passion the line is often crossed that divides personal interest and the good of the whole. To grow and move forward those need to be seperate.

For everyone's information..... I do not own a Sidewinder. I haven't been given anything from Racing Outboard, not a tee-shirt not a sticker. I race CSR and CSH. Occassionally I race 25SSR runabout with a restricted 302 (but I do not feel that evolution of the 25SSR class in its current form is good for the future of our sport).

My compliments to Ric Montoya he has been the most consistant supplier of information and has been a steady asset to Stock Outboard.

                        Happy New Year!

                          National meeting agenda

I wonder if anybody will suggest dropping the J height 2 inches lower?
                          Probably not.

The "J" motor height has been submitted as an agenda item to the Junior class committee.
This thread is a about the SORC agenda.

One could argue if they are being held to a different standard than others.

They certainly have not had to send an engine to have Dyno’ed by an independent company like the the Tahatsu did.
