The boat with the hole in the sponson was a one day repair. They took the boat home the same day to put a finish on it after set up and go testing. The other boat I trimmed away the damage and am now test fitting all the pieces.Mike - One of the Montana Boys

These show the test fitting of the repair work and the new C mod boat all set up waiting for pipe, props and yes, mirrors. Also going to try running it as a laydown OSY400. We will see what happens. After testing we will decide what boat will do what. The ice is finally gone from the rivers.Mike - One of the Montana Boys

Boat Bottom

I must be missing something.
The hull will have the longitudinal battons run the length of the hull just as in the conventional construction. Between the battons I will put hexel honey comb and then install the bottom plywood. This stablizes the bottom of the hull and keeps it from shifting.
When I raced I found that building a very light hull for ASR and keeping the bottom straight and flat took a lot of work by grinding the bottom several times during the year. I built a honey comb sandwich bottom ASH in the late 198o's and a ASR in 1988, glassed the planing surface and ground it once. The two years that I had it it stayed flat.
The ASR hull is now owned by J. Michael Kelly and is still in great shape. He told me a year and a half ago that he did not want to sell it because it was such a good hull. But is was getting old and he was running other hulls not necessaraly faster but newer. The ASH hull is owned by Michael Zonich in Kelso, Washington and is still in great shape and flat.
This MJR CSH hull is the first hull I have build since 1988. I have been busy tending to more important matters. Keep watching and you will see the construction proceed.
Take care and God bless."A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state,

The dawecraft is really beat and I told Jason that if it gets a hit like that again it will only be good as a parking lot racer. Its hard to find a solid piece to splice to anymore
I can hardly wait to test the new boat. I hate coming out of a corner waiting for the boat to take off. This should be a hoot. Daren, when you brought your mod boat to nationals that sold me and like you said. Girls love PIPESMike - One of the Montana Boys
