    Scarlatta

Tony Scarlatta made his run this time from 1 to 2. Had a gorgeous run at full tilt, then balked just before Scanner 2. He's returning to the pits now.

Patrol Boats are taking a quick Comfort Break, the JDub will be back with 1100 hydro.

Stop yer grinnin' and drop yer linen!

Hope everyone has good luck and is safe out there. J Dub should have the 1100 record with the 95% rule. My luck at Oroville has been terrible been twice first watched the wind blow, second Kilo's cancelled three hours after I got there. Very long drive from East Texas. Wish there was something closer...Hope to go to D Lake this fall?

        Questionable omen?

Is it a bad omen when you see a buzzard circling over Scanner 1?

Correction to last post: Corey Peabody will be next in the Capsule Boat, running as a 700cch.

          700 cc h

Corey made the first pass at 117.672. Just as he was getting spooled up for the return pass, the engine faltered and stopped right about at the alignment buoy for entering Scanner 2.

Again, lots of sponson walking at scanner 1 entering his first pass.

Wart coming back in about 15 minutes.

                More Wart

The wind is freshening a bit and you can feel the air pressure drop as a cloud front begins to move in.

Wart's first pass on this run resulted in a balk (his first balk of the afternoon). A second attempt also resulted in a balk. He eventually returned to the pits without a complete pass. At present he is averaging about 1/10th off the record.

                  More various tidbits

Zach Malhiot had a lower unit go bye-bye so Project 175cc has closed up shop. They're still towing Corey back to the pits.

Scarlatta is plenty fast but is reportedly having handling issues at peak speed. He's up next.

Lonnie Morris had similar issues testing yesterday: plenty speed but rough control. He's on the trailer.

Clearly, kilos are a different animal to run. I think everyone should try it at least once.

One last note: Meatball just showed up. There goes the neighborhood.

                    Scarlatta (Super Stock)

Tony started with with 1 balk. On his first full run he lifted slightly at the end for a 1 way pass of 108.642. His return run was better at 121.375, for an average of 115.008.

                        Who's Next

The 700cch is finally back to the pits. Fuel Pressure issues continue to plague the Blacksheep entry. We expect to see either Wartinger or JDub back on the water in about 20 minutes. Wart is clawing away at the OSY record, and JDub will be back in 1100cch.

                            95% Rule

                            Mr. Johnson,

The Pro cat. thought correctly that a capsule boat can't run with a open cockpit boat (think about breaking Danny's comp record with a capsule boat this his engine). Thus Ron Anderson set it at 122.??? x .95 = approx 116. I know Kilo's are easier on capsules but an open boat (though extremely dangerous) would still kill a capsule boat speed. Won't affect 500 and 700 as both were set with YOUR capsule!

I believe the last 1100 Hydro record was in a lay down hydro. Since the capsule boats are required now only 95 % of the old record is needed. Sean can better explain this. I know he wanted to be there as he loves Kilo's...Bob N-96

                                Wart's back

A last minute change at the ramp put Bob Wartinger back on the water. 1st run 68.116 A super wide run on the return caused him to be missed by the scanner; no time taken.
