    K Ladd - Team Kao's

We lost a true friend and also feel the heartache that Kelly, Kori and the Ladd/ Pater Families are going through. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as I am still in disbelief that this could of happend. Kevin was a devoted husband and father and friend to many of us in the boat racing family.
Kevin enjoyed life to the fullest and always had a way of inspiring people to enjoy the times together in our sport as he was a friend and a mentor to many of us . He always was on the move to get new racers in this sport and directing them in the right direction to become good racers.
I want to thank him for all the great advice and friendship we have built through the years as competitors and friends , as well as sharing family times together. Kevin was the light in Kelly's eyes and a proud father in seeing the "spunk" in Kori that could only resemble him.
Kevin will be dearly missed and his families will go through a lot of heartache, but we as friends can only share the love that they will need.

    Our Thoughts and Prayers .

I hardly knew Kevin at all, as i had only met him once to actually talk to him. yet his love of this sport was transparent and could be seen by anyone who met him. My heart and prayers go out to his family. God bless you Kevin.

Rabidgator I think your suggestion is a wonderfull idea! After my grandmother passed we found a journal (Grandma's) from the 40's of my grandfather's and Grandmothers lives together. to read it was priceless to me. it allowed me to get to know them a little bit better from a perspective i could never otherwise have as one of their grandsons

My brother and I met this young, fantastic driver about 13 years ago. He became part of our racing family, another son to our dad and good friend to us. To Kevins family I am so sorry for your loss and no words can make it better. But you are in my thoughts and prayers. Kevin you will be missed, may you rest in peace and hang out with our dad in heaven.

            Devastated

I can't even begin to express how devastating it was to hear the sad news. My brothers raced against Kevin years ago and I never really got to know him until the last few years, but his name was well known at the Schaub pits. I can not even find the words to express what a huge loss Kevin's passing will be to our Boat Racing Family. My condolences to his wife and child, and family. I can't even begin to imagine how they must be feeling right now. You are in my thoughts and prayers. May God help you to find the strength to get through this terrible time.
            Sincerely,
            Sheila

              Huge Whole In My Heart

I am still in shock. I was awoken Saturday morning with tragic news that one of my brothers (that is what Kevin was like to me) was killed at an event that we all loved to do. I wish I had words to make Kelly,Kori, Joe and every other family member feel better about what just happened. I know one thing, that Kevin loved all this family and friends and he loved the life he lived. He loved the fast lane. Whether is was a 120 Tunnel, a Stock or Mod Hydro, a Go Cart at one of the birthday parties he gave, or the Snowmobile that took his life. He died doing what he loved to do. This will hurt for some time. I will be there for Kelly, Kori or any of the Pater or Ladd family members. Myself and a few of Kevin's close friends stood at the Scenic Lookout overlooking Lake Supierior and Spectical Lake that Kevin took all of us to and said a prayer for him and his family on Saturday night. Please wait for me in heaven by brother I will see you someday and we will be together again. I love you and will miss you greatly!!!!! Mikey

Our racing world was a better place with Kevin Ladd in it. He was a great competitor, a friend to many, and making a mark in boat racing politics. During the national meeting a couple weeks ago, after a prolonged discussion about how we were going to go about making our sport safer, one of the most well versed, accomplished, and highly respected individuals in boat racing commented, "I don't know who that is sitting at the end of the table, but he gets it!" What Bob Wartinger was talking about was that even as a newcomer to the OPC Commision, Kevin could see where we should be headed and that he had some ideas on how to get there. He will be sorely missed. Kelly, Kori, my thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of your family during this time.

                    Our sincere condolences

What do you say at a time like this - no words can erase all the hurt and sadness...we all feel the pain when one of our racers leaves us. It is so sad that someone so young has been taken from us, but we have our memories and they will keep us warm. Our sincere condolences to Kelly and little Kori; also the Pater and Ladd families. We are here for you all if you need anything, we are only a phone call away...330-298-1541. We just know Kevin is busy up there organizing races already and smiling down on all of us. Rest In Peace Kevin. Your friends, Jack and Joan Brewster in Ohio - Brewster Race Team.
