We are so sorry to hear of the tragedy. It is our sincerest prayer that God will send Kevin's family comfort and strength at this sad time.
Augustine Racing
Kelly our prayers and thoughts are with you, Kori and the entire Pater/Ladd Families. Words cannot describe what we really want to say at this time.
I’ll miss those weekly emails from Kevin asking me if we were ready to buy a 45 yet for Donny & Thomas to share. And I’m sure he’ll miss me asking him to ask your Dad if we can borrow his good equipment again at the nationals.
You guys are true friends and if there is anything we can do for you guys
don’t hesitate to ask.
The girls still talk about this past summer being the best summer they have ever had racing with you & Kevin.
Like everyone else, we have spent the last 24 hours in shock and disbelief. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Kelly, Kori, and the Ladd/Pater families. Kevin was a great friend to Terry and a wonderful Godfather to our daughter, Kayla. She absolutely adored him!
Kelly, if there is anything we can do please let us know.
Iv'e only talked to Kevin 3-4 times. Once at Grass lake when I was just start'n out in this sport about 2000-2001.....At that time I was look'n for a 20SSH rig.....At Grass lake there was a very sharp red/white/blue rig for sale with a note to ask for Kevin......check'n around the pits I met a young fell'a with a very confident but infectous smile......Gett'n the price I had to wonder/ask if it was still a competative rig.....without a blink or hesitation he said...."just watch cause I just decided to run it"....Sure enough....he went out and smoked the field that day.........I remember it well cause it was the race that Tim Sidor went out with a closed vent cap (not a pretty sight)....
When Kevin came in he said "price just went up " with a big grin! ....Then he said some'thin about keep'n the wheel that he barrowed (not sure who lent it?....maybe a guy named ....Joe?)
Being a late "Baby-Boomer"/(1955)....who's head'n into "Mid-life-CRISIS",...I can't help but look at some of the "young-GUNS"....with a twinge of jealousy know'n that my best days for being a potential "Champion" may be behind me and these "Young GUNS" still have it ahead of them......But Kevin is the type that you had to like cause he always was will'n to listen and offer advice to a new racer even if it was a "Wann'a-be Champion" well past his prime.....for that I respect and thank you Kevin....see ya on the other side....IN MY WAKE!

Something I have seen done on other message boards when someone passes so unexpectedly and with very young children is the mods can save all the posts by that person and send them off to his family. If you could send Kelly all of Kevin's posts she could save them for Kori so that one day she can read the words of her father, not just what everyone tells her about him.
It may mean absolutely nothing at all, but it could mean EVERYTHING for young Kori to actually see inside of her father's thoughts.
Kelly, Kori, and all the Ladd/Pater Family,
Our Thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of your loss.
kevin was a true competitor and will be missed.
