My condolences to Kevin Ladd's family. I did not know him well at all but he made me laugh at the meeting in Detroit when he taped his fingers together and gave me a Miller Light as a "peace offering". He seemed passionate about this sport and he will be missed. God be with all of his family and friends as you go through this painful time.

Kevin Ladd
Kevin's commitment to his family, this sport, and the community of us all, will be deeply missed.
There are very few words of comfort, at a time like this. But all of us, within this community, morns your loss, and we grieve with you.
May God extend His gentle hand, and grant you peace.
We all will be here, should you need us.

Kevin
The loss of Kevin shook me to the bone. He was a ferocious competitor and highly skilled driver on the water and loved both summer and winter challenges. When I went to his house last winter to pick up my 20SSH he had just returned from a snowmobile outing to the UP. I know he looked forward to these winter excursions whenever he could get away. My heart aches for Kelly and the baby. I had a small sense of the shock, numbness, and disbelief that comes with this as my wife described her feelings just after my near-fatal racing accident last April. But, throughout my long recovery the most important things that anyone sent me were prayers. Until that point in my life I never thought much about prayer but now I have experienced their indescribable power first hand. Unfortunately, even prayer won't bring Kevin back, but I urge all of you racers to send your thoughts and prayers to Kelly. Her pain will go on for a long time and, for those of us who aren't able to physically be with her to comfort her, a daily prayer will go a long way. I am very sad. I'll miss Kevin.

I was sound asleep when the phone rang very early this morning; it was Don Allen Jr. & he told me what had occured. I am still at loss for words as I have typed many & deleted most of them.
My heart aches for Kelly, Kori & the Ladd/Pater family & ask the Lord to grant them the strength to get thru these hard times.

Kelly, Ladd family and the Pater's we are thinking of you in this terrible time. It was just a week and a half ago Kevin and I sat at the national meeting and laughed together. That was what I will remember most, he was a very happy man I felt and it was great to see.
I will always remember him as one hell of a tough competitor and we hope you can stay strong during this great loss and great loss to our sport.
