    What a sad week

We spent many years racing SO in Wisconsin, in fact I thought we lived there. But we always looked forward to talking to the Warnock family. I know how much Steve loved racing and put his heart into all facets of racing, organizing and the politics of APBA. I remember how his dad was always there as well. We will truly miss Steve and all the special things and comments he always shared at the races. Our prayers are with your family Darlene, Rachel and Michael.

Our prayers and wishes for Steve's family to be at peace. We so enjoyed Steve's friendliness and all of the work he and the entire family have done for boat racing. I don't think there is one boatracer in the country who has not been touched in some way by the generosity of the Warnock Racing Family. That says it all. RIP Steve.

When I first started coming over to Wisconsin to race in the early 80’s Steve was one of the first guy to come over and offer his assist, he also suggested I move my trailer. He warned me that I should not pit by the Berghauer even though they were family. I asked why. He said, because I’m more fun. We laughed like hell.

Steve became a very good friend over the years and he will be missed immensely by myself and the entire Allen family.

Have you ever had so many great memories of someone that they are all scrambled up in your head? That’s where I am right now. We’ve been friends for almost 40 years. We’ve raced together, partied together, skied together, snowmobiled together and many times through the years just got together. We laughed together, we cried together. Steve was always smiling and laughing and was the first person to support you in a time of need. He was a great boat racer, a great friend and I’m going to miss him immensely.
Darlene, Rachel & Mike; I’m truly sorry for your loss and think of you often.

                  With very sad hearts....

Steve was one of my "boat racing idols", I always looked up to him, listened to him and learned from him. Whether it was on the shoreline doing his usual duties or on the race course driving like a legend, I would always watch, listen and take notes.. He will be dearly missed, like has been previously mentioned in many posts, but I will always remember what I have learned from him in life and boat racing, and take that forward in my future.
May Steve be remembered for his beautiful attitude and his greatness on the race course/race committees/commission, etc.
Darlene, Rachel & Mike please accept my sincere condolences and prayers at this time of great loss. May God Bless you.

                      the knocker

a few words i saw for the family. "miss me, let me go--when i came to end of the road and the sun has set for me, i want no rites in a gloom filled room. why cry for a soul set free? miss me a little but not for long and not with your heads bowed low. remember the love that we once shared, miss me - but let me go. for this is the journey we all must take and each must go alone. its all part of the masters plan, and a step on the road to home. when you are lonely and sick at heart, go to the friends we know, and bury your sorrows in doing good deeds -[-miss me - but let me go]. oh darlene and kids, wishing for you the peace of heart to get through this day. from brothers thunder racing, rod, cathi, lar's, linda, dadeo and momeo terz. rod.

The people that posted on this thread, that called us, that came to the funeral last Saturday (especially over long distances), everyone who has said a prayer and kept us in your thoughts. We truly appreciate your sentiments and value your presence in our lives.
