    Rest in peace Steve

Although I only new Steve for a short time I new right away when I first met him he was a veteran and spokesperson for the sport. He always had a smile on his face and great stories to tell.

You will be missed by all Warbs. The sport has lost a great person.

Our condolences to the Warnock family. From the Low family.

      Funeral Information

      My dear racing family,

It means so much to have everyone remembering my father fondly and the phone calls and support make this whole situation so much easier than it otherwise would have been.

Steve suffered from diabetes, but also from a liver that slowly ceased to function. His kidneys were doing all the toxin removal and purification processes of the body. He had to maintain a fine balance of fluid intake or his belly would swell up immensely. This placed a lot of pressure on his spine and hips and obviously caused him much discomfort. He went in regularly to have the excess fluid drained but he waited a bit too long this last time.

10 days ago he fell down and broke two ribs. The pressure in his ventral cavity was magnified do to the liquid now pushing against two broken ribs as well. To make a long story short, he went into the hospital Friday morning to have the fluid drained but he also began to vomit blood profusely. He was hemorrhaging blood from 4 different places in his stomach and esophagus. His heart stopped during the procedure. The doctors were able to restart his heart and patch two of the four lesions. He never regained consciousness from the procedure and after a few hours of labored breathing passed away peacefully around 9 PM without any pain.

We will be holding a visitation and memorial service for him on Saturday April 9th. Visitation begins at 1 PM and service will start at 3. Location is Church and Chapel, 380 Bluemound Rd, Waukesha,WI. It's four blocks south of I94 on the corner of HWYs J and JJ. If you would like to share a story or fond memory of Steve, there will be a time during the service for you to do so.

We thank you deeply for all your thoughts, prayers and support. His health had been steadily declining and we knew this day would be coming sooner rather later, but all the preparation in the world still doesn't take away the shock and pain of the phone call. Again, our deepest thanks.

      Darlene, Rachel and Michael

The Utmans express our deepest condolences. My father always spoke highly of Steve through their encounters in region 2 and then my personal experience with Steve was just as positive as my father spoke of.

Losing Steve is a large loss to our great community. I hope for the best for the Warnock family in this difficult time.

Rest in peace. Steve was a great guy and treated this rookie with respect and care to help some one he barely know.

Steve always had a big smile and a hug for me.
Then he would invariably make fun of my Boston accent.

He was always so nice to me and that's what I'll remember about him.

Love and Hugs to Darlene, Rachel, and Michael at this time of sorrow.

                      Don't worry

No worries Lulu, he always made fun of your Boston accent at home too. Years before I knew you or Billy personally, I knew your names by this reason. He would regularly attempt to speak Bostonian whenever he was being silly.

                          Fond Memories

Very sad to hear this news, and my heart pours out for the Warnock family.
Craig Bowman introduced me to Steve at LockHaven, I believe it was '89' or '90'. Pickle forks were now the rule and he was out there knocking the snot out of em' with a 25 powered shovel nose. Yellow with white. He was just as kind then as when I 're' met him, and You and Mike, as I helped pull your hydro's off the trailer in Grass Lake in '08'.
I'll be thinking of you guys and holding on to those memories. Mark Kurz

                                Hawk Hydros, Race In Peace

This is such an incredible loss. I really respected and liked Steve a great deal. He always called me "Deano". I loved his HAWK HYDROS and remember the GREAT battles between him and Dagostino in 25SSH. I also remember him running a crazy fast 20H Merc. the last year it was legal in BSH. He was fastest qualifier with it, very cool. He was a great ambassador and contributor to Outboard Racing. His loss will be felt by everyone.

                                Race In Peace Steve.

Darlene, Rachel, and Michael, you are in our thoughts and prayers.

I will miss Steve very much.
