I vote ring, because once she has that twinkle on her finger you can go buy whatever you want, at least for a little bit! Besides, my wife bought ME a new ASR the same year I proposed, so I must have grabbed a good one... G Lyons

We both love boat racing and neither one of us are picking boat racing over one another. It’s a sport we do together and apart, no problems. Read the thread for what it is. A fun joke of positive comments. 2 people in love. A woman who is in love with her current boat and doesn't want a new one in fear it will replace the one she has. A man who wants his woman to have a new boat that will potentially go faster. And a man poking fun at his girlfriend about a ring because he knows she wants to get married. Its pretty simple. No negotiating or choices actually being made. Just fun...

But while you’re on your rant and rave about boat racing and your wife having no say, is it your boat that you hold at night? Does your boat clean the house? Does your boat cook for you? Does your boat act as a lifelong partner? Does your boat meet every need and desire you have? Does your boat birth children? I can keep going…Boat racing is amazing, but family will always come first in my eyes. I understand your view and love for racing though. 8-)

I take care of my desries and needs. Current wife can not have children..All my children were from previous wife. Family always comes first (not a ring)8-P

Can I make a suggestion ? You are not gonna win this one with Katie, so I would stop there. Besdies, that girl can drive the nuts right off a Hydro. When she is ready to lose the training wheels, she will.

Katie, you got it all wrong, Boat racing first becasue it is a family thing !!

This thread is hilarious, and thanks for the humor from everyone. Here is one last suggestion, Buy HIM the ring !!

So what I hear you saying is that a ring, being a material, doesn’t come before family. Yes, I agree that materialistically speaking, a ring does not come before family. However, if we are talking chronologically, the ring normally comes before the family because the majority of people still get married first, then have children. (not saying people don’t have children out of wedlock, just saying the percentage of people married is higher than the percentage of people not married) That being said, the ring came before the family. Now you can say that you do not need a ring to get married, good point, but really, do you think the percentage of people without a ring at marriage would be higher than the percentage of people with a ring? I would take an educated guess to believe that a majority of people have a ring before/or at marriage. Which leads me back to the point that chronologically a ring came before the family. 8-) Maybe you should listen to Dave. Laugh, its just a fun thread.

And for the record, I never said a ring was more important than family. Nothing is more important than family.

Stop paying a house keeper, then you can buy more boat parts. Stop eating at restaurants, then you will have gas money to drive all over the country to race.

                    Update......

I am pleased to announce Cafarelli Racing just finished negotiations with Katie Sarver the driver of the 3-V and 2011-12 driver of the 2-US to a life time contract!!!

I would like to conclude this thread with my vote for a ring. It has been a long 13 months for this thread to have an answer.

On a side note... during this thread Team Cafarelli bought:

                    1 OMC A gearcase
                    2 Dewald props
                    1 New B & H boat NEVER raced in 2010-2011 season
                    1 2 OMC Blocks
1 Lot of OMC A Parts from California
                    1 750R Built new

                    AND

                    1 Diamond RING

I am very proud to say Team Cafarelli's future looks very bright.

                    Brian, Katie and Ashten.

                                A Good Preacher Man

Ya know Brian... Ive got this old illicit party-friend of mine...
                                (fully recovered)

He later studied to become an ordained minister, and passed the exam!
(this is a true story, stop laughing)

He actually married Shelly and I back in 2005 and I'm pretty sure the marriage is still legal
                                (havent actually checked)

So I'm sure if you think about this for 15 minutes or so, he could save
you 15% on car insurance AND could do the rites & ritual's for you two.

Just thinking it would be better than hitch-hiking to Nevada and all... Lemme know!
