This is a hard one. If you don't make her happy the only racing you will be doing is in the garage kneeling in a boat that is going no where. She will be around a lot longer than a boat. Get a cheaper ring and maybe you can still get a boat to.

I voted "Ring". The lady will be around long after the sport is dead. Did I just say that.

      Good Luck

If I were you, I would get the boat but only since it is for her
Now if you were choosing between a boat for yourself or a ring for her. it would be: GET THE RING DUDE shes a keeper! lol

PS my sis in law is a jeweler maybe she can get you a good deal on the ring later
Besides she said she wants the boat. annd a woman always tells you what she REALLY wants right?..................

For the Monaco F1 race for the last several years McLaren has placed diamonds in either the steering wheel and/or on the nose of the car. Order a boat and I will be more than happy to WEST the ring to the dash, that way she can look at it while racing and think about how great a guy you are. Might mess up her starts though.

No actually I do not want a new boat. I love my current boat.

LOL It has taken 20 years to train her. My wife no longer assumes I will know what she REALLY wants, if she does not TELL me what she really wants. Well at least for the most part.

A tad bit confused here but here is my point of view. I am NOT a jewlery person (ask BlueSkyRacer).

If it was a boat for me or a ring for me I would say boat. (Although it would have to be some kind of techie equipment since I am technical support or a new horse).

If it is a matter of an engagement ring for her or a boat for him, we'd better know a lot more about her first. Is she a racer? Does she attend races if not a racer?

I would always go for the practical and that would be boat even if it was for BlueSkyRacer. He deserves it and boat racing (although I don't "race") is something that we do together and that means a whole lot more than jewelry. My next statement would be get the best of everything you can afford because if boat racing is worth doing it is worth doing well!

A good relationship is priceless you would not trade it for any amount of money
A bad relationship? you can not get the first peso for it
                    A good boat nearly priceless
a bad boat... well... at least you can get the price of the hardware out of it

                        What great choices.
44 years ago I was asked to choose:
between a ring or a... PROP!
                        (Times were hard).
Man, if I would have been able to get a boat, wow.
Of course I did choose the prop, and it was for my boat of course.
On our 25th anniversary I did get the ring. I don't even wear it. I loved my PROP and the guy who bought it for me, and never gave a ring a second thought.
Get her what she wants, just let her pick it out.

The choice is buy a boat for Katie or buy a ring for Katie. Not a boat for me or a ring for her. I have enough boats for me.

                            Easy Choice

47 years ago Andy traded his Sidcraft (the only non-Hansen Hull he ever raced) for my engagement ring.

                            I'm glad he did.
