Need Help
Hi Everyone:
Please send a fax or email to Senator Codey. He is the President of the Senate. We need to ask him to put the bill on the agenda for Monday, Dec. 15th.
I spoke to Senator Kean's office today and they said it is a good sign that the bill passed through the Transportation Committee. He said there are 1000 of bills that don't go anywhere. So maybe there is hope.

There is just something wrong when a child can ride a bike down a busy street unattended. Yet that same child can not particapate in a race. With rescue people and parents not only present but paying attention to what is going on. Sigh

Senator Kean has written a letter to Honorable John A. Girgenti, Chairman
Senate Law & Public Safety Committee.
His letter reads: Dear Chairman: As you are aware, legislation which I have sponsored that would create an exception to the age requirement for power boat operation when conducted in an authorized race has been referred to the Senate Law and Public Safety Committee. Under current law a person under 16 years of age but at least 13 years of age is permitted to operate a power vessel in New Jersey as long as they have completed a boat safety course. However, they are not permitted to operate power boats when conducted in an authorized race.
Authorized boat races are a family activity and closely monitored for safety. Unfortunately, because of this current law, families must leave the state in order to participate in an authorized power vessel race.
I am sure you would agree that it is important to encourage activities, such as these, in New Jersey which would help promote tourism in our state. Therefore, I request that you post S1889 for a vote so that they may begin the process of reforming this policy which creates a hardship for many New Jersey families. Thank you for your attention to this request and please feel free to contact me if I can be of assistance in this or any other matter.
So we will see if this helps out. The next Session is Feb. 23. Let's keep our fingers crossed.SPORTMANSHIP expresses an aspiration that the activity will be enjoyed for its own sake, with proper consideration for fairness, ethics, respect and a sense of fellowship with one's competitors.

Just heard from Scott Glossner, he said the J Bill will be voted on by the Assembly on Sept. 16th, if passed it will then go to Governor Christie for signing of the bill. Scott's contact believes it should pass and hopefully will be done in time for Fall Millville (Oct. 9 & 10). We will keep everyone informed.SPORTMANSHIP expresses an aspiration that the activity will be enjoyed for its own sake, with proper consideration for fairness, ethics, respect and a sense of fellowship with one's competitors.
