Thats great---glad to bring some Christmas cheer to you guy's

House boat lololo is were I grew up 900 sq ft home that Dad built..
      Oakdale Long Island
Boat (really is) I'm sitting on is a 40's Jacoby one step hydro
Power head was a 44 merc, ran it in Great South bay with short stock shaft. Long before I new there was an APBA.
Saved for two summers working with my Dad as a roofer helper to buy this stuff. Later combined 44 with Quickie, put 55h covers on it and was run in APBA and EORC as D stock runnabout by Jack Gosman won a few races was lots of fun.
Moral of story if ya get exposed to boat RAcing either you do or you don't.

          Pat,
Glad you could laugh as well. Erik is a great guy and very dedicated to exposing people to the sport and welcoming them into the family. If you guys have not met yet I hope you get the chance real soon. He shares your passion for building the sport by good old fashioned hands on hard work. Merry Christmas and hope to see you guys at Ocoee.

                1993 Divisionals at Copperopolis, CA.

Me & Roy Blackwell on the beach.

Race photo: Racing deck to deck w/ Pat Kelly (orange boat) all weekend. The 305 is a Sorensen painted top to bottom w/ graphite. I believe I was taught a few driving lessons along the way, but it was a fun time.

Does anybody remember driving into Angels Camp that weekend for the Frog Jump Biker festival (I suppose if you were there, you would certainly remember).

Russ, my goal is to get you to shoot Pepsi out the nostrils,..."Now that's funny, don't care who you are!".

Per another HR posters motto, which I have always lived by and like: "Be strong and kind, and funny when you can."

All the best wishes to you and the family!
Stock Outboard Racing!....because other sports,....golf, football, baseball, etc....only require one Ball!

Mike is alive and well !

I haven't see or heard from them since back when Hawkeye Stock was an APBA midwest club. I was just a young kid back then running ASH. Mike and Holly were always good people to be around. I messed with R/C boats for a short time and people was always talking about this Mike Crawford guy that build some fast boats. I bought a used boat he had built and not only was it fast it was built with great craftsmanship.[/QUOTE]

Talked with Mike on the phone yesterday and he is doing fine......getting
ready and making plans for 2011 r/c racing season. He is planning on taking
in the Pro Nationals in DePue and know that he made the Title Series race in
Wisconsin last year so it is hard telling where he may show up this year.
He is retired and still living in Racine.......Holly and he split several years
ago and she and the twins are in Minnesota. One of the girls raced the r/c
boats with him for several years but they are of college age now and don't
have time for playing with boats.
Mike's R/C boat business goes by "Wood Stuff" tunnels.......he builds a full
line of the tunnel boats and are of wood on foam construction. They
are fast, handle great, and the worksmanship is second to none.

Not only do I remember it, but I a bunch of us walking into one of the many Biker Bars (somewhere I still have the T-Shirt I bought there) and asking them to put the Sonics playoff game on the tube. They obliged. No fights either. Not even a weird look.

I guess there'ssomething to be said for indifference.
