Bill this is what you posted for a date..... on 1/6 then the date was changed on 4/17 we have to plan a long way ahead of time. Just too bad it didn't work out.
Howie,
MRC will be hosting J/Stock/Mod race June 23-24 at Rochelle, IL and tentatively a race August 18-19 maybe at Beloit, WI or maybe Elgin, IL.
Driver's schools at Rochelle and possibly at Elgin if we end up there.
I was afraid you would say that I thought maybe there were some others as well. Actually the date for Rochelle changed at the APBA annual meeting at the end of January and emails were sent out to all BSOA/MRC members at that time and I did make a post somewhere on HR.net about it too. The post that I made on HR.net on 4/17 was to correct a mistake in Propeller, what was listed there did match the new date that I submitted to APBA HQ in early Feb.
Anyways, I do thank Mike and Joe for their support over the years and yes, too bad it did not work out, we missed you guys. I guess the lessons to be learned is be careful when publishing tentative dates and race directors can never communicate enough.
Guys,
While I like this discussion and think it is a worthy one. And I also appreciate all the comments trying to explain why we wanted to try something a little different on the schedule (without much sucess) - But quit highjacking the thread.
Weather this weekend is looking great - remember to bring plenty of sunscreen and an EZup since shade will be scarce.
We will be putting extra pit signs up for those who have never been to Lakemore before and might be coming in late. Also, we will have several people onsite Friday to assist in trailer parking. There is limited space, so we have to pack it tight. Please be willing to work with us.
These are the type of events we should ALL try to get to, the ones with events surrounding them. Theses are the type of no brainier events that help the sport be seen by the public. Regardless of personal issues with the actual race or the club throwing it, a race with a lot of entries is a lot more appealing. Defiantly worth factoring in when you schedule your year out, look for the events scheduled within a local town or regional event.

This is absolutely, undeniably correct. This race in the past has had spectators, community support, and involvement. It is our chance to improve on an already good event for the community and our sport. A good solid two days of racing helps our club live up to our word that is given to the community when we sit down and crunch numbers. We're finally putting on a Divisionals at this site. Springfield Lake in the past, has had everything that is needed to have an outstanding weekend for racers. What I should say is, everything but a good number of racers. I'm sorry to say that because of my recent by-pass surgery, I can't race. My equipment will be there on the trailer. If someone would like to race it, let's talk. One way or another, I'm going to make sure that TRORA gets an entry fee from me.
This event rivals the carnival of Lock Haven. The motorcycle stunt show on the road adjacent to the pits is 'wicked pissa'. This site hosted a very BIG Merc Challenge Event in the 1980's that was memorable.
I always thought this site was a natural for what we do! Good course and good people.
Sorry to say that after 3 weeks of rough traveling for work, my body is telling me that it's not a good idea to go racing. Deck Racing still will have 1 ASH, and now only 1 20SSH, instead of 2!
Also, thanks to the MHRA members, who I talked to today, who offered me the use of their passenger seat to sleep, and any other assistance I need, but I will be watching the races on line!
Good Luck all and see you at the Nationals!
Also, if someone could do me a favor and post a note on the back of my 81 year old father, "Hi I'm Jack Deck, I drive the special short bus special boat, X, and If I get lost, please call " I would appreciate it! (I know I am going to be in so much trouble for that, but I just can't resist!)
When it comes to boat racing and the wife, it's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is permission, and of course I spent a number of nights sleeping on the couch!
