I do not speak for three rivers but..........
LAYOFF of them!!
I don't speak for them, nor am I a member, but I am guessing they were considering splitting the Divisional to decrease the amount of "pull out" Sat. only racers. Why would they do that? Not to screw you! Which some seem to imply, but because they will probably lose a $1,000.00 on the race. Remember guys insurance and sanction increased about 30%. I have been to three races this years. 57 entries at the first one 70 entries at the second and a whopping 90 at the third. That is 70 boats average@ $35.00 entry fee = $4,900 for the weekend in revenue. The average cost to put on a race for the weekend, about $5,500.00.
I am sure that's why TRORA tried splitting the Div.
We are all going to have "alternate" weekend plans in a few years, because racing will cease to exist or we will all have 10 hour rides every weekend as we turn into our version of the title series! With $75.00 entry fees.
Again, I speak for no club. I am speaking as someone who is hitting the calculator every weekend trying to figure out how many more years until it is not viable. I think about 5...

Maybe more Central locations for the Divisionals need to be selected so it's real difficult drive to make for many of the competitors in the division if that "new model" is going to be utlized.
I agree 100% that our racing will be looking different soon. I said about four years ago we would be racing a title series model sooner than we thought. I saw MRC loose close to $2000 this past weekend putting on Rochelle. No one really travels out of region anymore (Wheelers were the only ones there this past weekend). Some of those money saving efforts will most likely have to be utlized in the future, but I don't think putting that effort on the backs of the runabout drivers who race in the division should be the ones doing it.
Like I said, more "central" locations in the division would probably make that hydros on Saturday and runabouts on Sunday intent a bit easier to swallow. It's closer for Worm to drive from NJ or Captain America to drive from MD than it is for any of us NE Wisconsin guys to show up. It's a lot easier to say get off their backs when you have a 3.5 hour drive instead of a 10 hour drive.

Yes Dean, that was part of our idea of splitting up the divisionals to reduce the amount of "pull out" racers, but not the only reason we were thinking of trying that format.
We were also thinking it would lighten the load of inspection some by splitting some divisional classes to be inspected on Sunday and not just Saturday.
Also, the length of the program Saturday was a factor. By having some classes with elims. Sunday the program would be a little shorter Saturday.
It was not our intention to keep fellow racers with long hauls stuck in the pits until the end of the day Sunday, we've all had long drives Sunday night before too.
We are planning a great event and I hope everyone will be able to make it now that all divisional classes are on Saturday. The Rock the Docks festival will again be taking place with games and carnival rides for the kids. Catered dinner in the pits and fireworks afterwards.Last edited by JESSE74; 07-02-2012, 12:40 PM.Jesse Ward 15-S

I need to lighten up
I re-read my post and I sounded harsh. My real intention was to have people really think about a clubs motivation.
The numbers are officially broken. I feel pretty confident in saying that we will have less races to choose from pretty soon.
As for Divisional maybe we drop it all together, or maybe each Region has its own.
I do not know what the answers are, outside of Racer School, but the problem is getting critical.Last edited by csh12M; 07-02-2012, 01:50 PM.

I think there was only something like 5 out of region trailers at the last Depue and we ran them all on Saturday. We lost a ton of entries on Sunday. 10/12 hour trips back home on Sunday nights makes for some very unproductive Mondays.
I would like to say thanks and hat’s off to you guys for changing your minds.
BTW…don’t be mad if we don’t race on Sunday.
I don’t want to high jack this thread, but it does keep bring it to the top every time we post on it
We are in a tuff spot with this sport like Dean mentions. Donny and I had this conversation on our way home last night. I think we had 55 entries yesterday. A couple people scratch and you lose entire classes. We need all of us and it’s getting harder and harder to make that happen. Clubs losing 1000.00/1500.00 plus on a race when boat count is down is happening everywhere. How long can we survive if that continues. We need to all step out of our boxes and start thinking what are we going to do going forward.
I think Dean hit the nail on the head."Ask anyone, I have no friends. I do have some people that put up with me and mostly because they like the rest of my family"
