Dave,
There are 2 fiber pieces which are installed one over the other. Figure 3 on the Boyesen Installation sheet uses the words "dual-stage". You will also find that they are referred to as: "2 stage".; "double reeds"..; "two reeds operating in tandem"...; "two-reed design"...., etc.
The 'stages' if you will, are comprised of a "primary" reed and a "secondary" reed (see Figure 2 on the Installation sheet).
It should be noted that the "primary reed" in this instance is also called the BOTTOM reed. It is the thicker one, and goes against the reed block. The "secondary reed" is the TOP reed. It is the thinner of the pair and is installed above the "primary" reed. Again, refer to Figure 2 which depicts all this.
The T32 Top reed is .0135" and the Bottom reed is .0215"
The T32R Top reed is .0160" and the Bottom reed is .0235"
From a technical standpoint.... It appears that the T32 reed may provide better acceleration but less longevity. And, the T32R reed may provide better top end and longer life.
bbbbBUT, of course, in keeping with the world as we know it... I provide the following DISCLAIMER: YOUR RESULTS MAY VARY.... (or even better) RESULTS MAY NOT APPLY NOT VALID WHEN USED IN RACING WHERE SPEED IS INVOLVED.
Yours truly,
