      Noise ? Really ?

Dave, you couldn't be further from the truth. Maybe you should enlighten your venues a little. You are talking of TWO race sites in the country........ seem spretty weak to me.

I can speak from experience, noise attracts more spectators than the quiet stuff. Period. Example. I was in the turn boat during a 750CCMH flight in Constantine MI. The club is hesitant to put more mods on becasue of noise. The spectators at this race are few. But when the 750CCMH's fired up and all 12 came down to the start line... I counted 29 cars pulled over and watching that were not on the side of the road prior to that heat. When you make enough noise for them to stop and take note, you are doing something right. You have to pick your venues, sure. Why in the hell would you WANT to race someplace where they have noise restrictions ? That will kill the sport faster than anything. At least in Flordia they stopped having Mod races for the most part, becasue the venues they choose didn't like the noise. Problem solved. It certainly limits your ability to put on a race as all you can do is Stock, but it is what it is. Don't hate the players, hate the communities that don't like it, and don't support those communities. Take your money elsewhere where it is appreciated. We all know money is tough to come by now-a-days.

        Noise

Good points....We can start a new thread at some point in the future on this issue....something I feel strongly about.

Hey - this is a cult thing. I raced for 20 years in region 10 and most everybody loved it. I remember one year Divisionals at Capital Lakefair, eliminations in F hydro. And the crowd loved it. I know, this isn't the 60's anymore. I would run quiet bounce pipes at populated race sites if I could engineer some, but half the fun is the sound.

Speaking of that, enjoy Haves' video.

                      D mod

Very nice work on the D MODS. It is a great class to run. This winter we will be building two Merc 44's, for our use and one to give away to someone I promessed a powerhead to. Doug Kay will be starting that work after the first of the year. Right now he is finishing up work on the 75-H's he is restoring for me. Will post photos of the new projects as they come together. The white boat in the photo is a D MOD.

                          New video

                          Hi Al,
I will be post some videos of my sons GoPro cam once I figure out how to edit them. Have a great one of him spinning the D MOD up at a NBRA race in IL. and recovering after the spin.

A photo of my D MOD runabout in the water at Tabor City.

Sure rewarding to create this outfit thru from conception to completion. The satisfaction of doing this yourself is high.

I learned a lot there. I know now why the other boats have larger steering wheels! Gonna take some time to get the knack of flat turning this thing.
Motor - nothing fell off and it ran flawlessly right out of the box.

                            YEEEEE-HAW! What a trip. Awaiting 2012 season.
