      looking good, George.
      What did you do to the inside sponson and air trap. looks like you used some Carbon Fiber. What did you do to the cockpit sides?

        Bill the airtraps are 3 mil covered with 4 oz directional carbon fiber on both sides and the combings are two 3 mil with 5.7 oz Kevlar in between. I did both combings that way.

            finishing

            I am refinishing a flyer. When I was buying varnish a guy in line said he was a cabinet maker and he dampens the wood to expose "loose" fibers. He said he sands it down again and varnishes after it dries. This is supposed to provide a much smoother surface.

            Has anyone tried this and if so how well does it work?

            Thanks,

              Russ;

              Dad wants to know what year the Flyer is. From 1980-81 and on all the boats were coated with West Epoxy. We can give you some pointers on it if needed.

                Good Morning Craig,
                I have no idea the year of the boat. All I know is that it was Mike Mamano's old BSH. We have removed white, maroon, and blue layers. My son Joey was going to run it when we went testing just to get some more experience. Until I get it finished he is playing with my new Giles CSH.

                Here is Joey in our new Giles....

                        Brian & Dan,
                        It is pretty sad when you lose your ride to an 11 year old
                        We have already been in contact with Mr. Giles about another boat, but mother doesn't know yet
                        Joey will run AOF novice and maybe a few APBA J races in 2008.

                        All the other boats on this thread look great!!

                            Dan,
                            He opened it for all it was worth. We kept the set-up conservative. After he got comfortable we gave him some shims and sent him back out and he went quicker. This boat has a ton of lift so we set it up to keep the nose down. I have some more cool shots but don't want to clutter the New Boat thread with them.

                            NOTE: There was a chase boat on the water when Joey was running as well as a very fast bass boat waiting on shore if needed. Joey has been around boat racing since he was born. Joey also started racing modified drag sleds when he was 4 yrs. old, and has spent time riding with me in the Flyer learning how boats behave. I would never send a kid out in a CSH on a whim.
