Hey, I was thinking that some of my ole' kampkurz buddies might get a kick out of seeing my new Top' O' boat. I couldn't be happier to be competing in my first marathon. It's such a great race and some great people have played a big part in inspiring me to build one, so I will be going as hard as I can and I hope to see many of you there. Mark ' Kampkurz' Kurz

    • Mark, your rig looks great! Sorry I won't be able to make it this year to the race. Looking forward to hearing that you won. Jack

      • Top' O' Rig

Thanks for the positive comments. I have set a goal of two finishes for my first year. I am not particularly fast as of yet, but I think I'm plenty fast for a marathon. The boat handles as well as I can drive it, and everyone around here has been very supportive.
Yeah, I wish you could be here this year too, Jack, maybe some other year? Didn't we have a great time last time you made it? Keep in touch, Mark

            • Mark, Your boat looks great. So how was the race and how did you do? I saw some pictures of Kurt's boat and it looks really good also. I heard about his little incident before the race but who ever drove his boat made it look good in the race pictures. They both look great. Maybe next time I will see them up close. 326-C

Hey Mark T., I ran in the middle of the pack both days, struggling when it was rough. I did not do training in the real rough and paid for it. All said, I am still experiencing a rather strong case of 'Perma-Grin', just can't seem to wipe it off my face.
The boat ran and handled flawlessly both days. It gets on plane very well and seems to have a lot of punch, (Thanks Craig Dewald). Mister Tim Ross gave me a couple good tips as did Mister Kim Parks. I've implemented those tips and am certain that I am going better in the rough. For a first race, I am happy to have finished both days. What an experience. I now know even better why you will come all the way from Cal to do it.
I am trying to make the last two marathons at Grass Lake and Big Rapids to hone my 'Top O' skills!
Hope to see you next year, Mark. I'll just have to enjoy your cool boat from a different perspective. BTW, awesome new short course boat. Bring your spray gun with you!

                        • As you can tell...the water was just a little bumpy! The new boat worked great in the rough water. It turns very well and accelerates from the jetty extremely well. It would have been nice to test prior to the race, but weather and time didn't permint, so the race was our maiden voyage. Again...I'm very pleased with the boat! Thanks Gary!

                          Thanks for the photo Marc

                          • James is modest, this is what I read on LOMBC.com
"In the restart Alex Cremona took the win from James Aderholt (USA) with the new Pugh proprider powered by the GRM, which attracted much interest."

In Ameriglish, that means he placed second to A. Cremona. One good heat doesn't prove anything, but it's a good start.
