Lawrence Water Level?
I have heard that the water level is not high enought for 1 3/4 course? Sooooo, first I guess I'm listening here to different peoples opinions and thinking safety or what not and was wondering, is this (1 3/4 course or any other course) the race directors or the race committee's decision? And second, as an in-region racer or for that matter an out of region racer, I guess I'd like to know if we are running the same course both days, depending on what course we can run, or are we running two courses...one Saturday and one Sunday? And what might those courses be, or when will we know what those courses are?
Thanks
Jim

Course size
I am just doing what the race director (Todd) has asked me to do, which is tell people to be prepared for either a 1 2/3 course or something smaller. I am go out on a limb and say that there may be..heaven forbid...politics involved here...as the pro folks have decided not to allow records on 1 2/3 course...so...where do we go from here? I think its a race committee decision. Just my 2 cents worth. Dave

Lake Level
I spoke with a customer of mine yesterday who is a resident on the lake, and she said the lake is considerably lower now than it was for the May inboard race. She also said that the lake has quite a bit more water in it than it usually does for this time of year, for whatever that is worth.

I spoke with Jan Shaw, co race director, and she said it will be a 1 1/4 mile both days. Low water levels, very dry in the NW, Lake Lawrence has drop 1-2 feet in the last month alone 1997 was the last time SOA has run the 1 2/3.
Jan, Todd, what if we come up with the extra $300 for a resurvey, to run the mile 1 day!

Survey
Don't you all think it would be wise to wait and see what the surveyor has to say. Ultimately he is going to tell the race committee what can and can't be run on the Lake and where the water levels are highest and lowest. Honestly, I don't think you can guarantee any course until this has been done, which is why we have always listed all 4 courses on the sanction for the past few years.
Food for thought.

READ THE CIRCULAR. There is limited to no on site registration. There are penalties for trying to register on site and there is No registration the day(s) of the race. Please read your circular and either mail or submit an online entry by the deadline. It will save you money, and the registrar's a headache.
