    nicknames

Not a huge deal. I just don,t much care for being called "Meatball" over the pa system at races and stuff. Just the way it is I suppose. I think most people would feel the same way.

      Setting Records

It's nice to hear from racers East of the Rockies talk of their experiences at Lawrence. The corner exit speed is right on the money, couldn't believe it either the first time I heard it.

It takes more than just chute speed on a large course for a good average. 5 miles on the edge is much harder than most folks who have never run on a large course can imagine.

Dave, so you want to be called BD instead?

        Bd

Mike...I very nearly quit racing when I was called "BD" over the pa system at Newburg in 1990. I find that both humiliating and degrading...If people use that as a nickname you can all find somebody else to chair the 2007 stock nationals...just so you know. Dave

          Meatball

First of all, some Midol and hot bath might cure your ailments today....cramps?? What is your deal?? A few months ago we were all on here joking and laughing about our Nicknames.....When was the last time you called me by my given name? We should be proud to bear the nicknames handed to us by our fellow Region 10 racers, as you can see there are only a select few of us who bear this right!

I believe trips back east, and other funny and unforgettable moments have been the instigators in handing out nicknames, lets not ruin tradition.....just ask Gomer.

          C'mon ............ lighten up!

            haha

I am fine..no cramps etc. I dont care if friends call me Meatball I suppose...but it honestly bothers me when people I have never met or even seen before call me that...not sure why. And yeah....numerous trips back east have obtained legendary status.....I could tell some stories...but not on this thread...

So we are all good? Yes, legendary status and yes, not here....this is a family deal! Besides, I think enough of our Region 10 stories have made their way to hydroracer, no need for any more detail on that!

                Stories.

Yah...Region 10 outboard racing has obtained legendary status antics wise...We should all get together sometime (over drinks) and write a book....changing the names of the not so innocent of course.

Back to Lake Lawrence. A Poll.

How many racers that are going to Lawrence this year would like to have the 1 and 2/3 course?

                  I would.

This might help....or not...but the course target was a 1-2/3 mile with a 1-1/4 mile course inset for PRO, both days. The fallback was 1-1/4 if water level drops.

After Eatonville Tom O'Neill and I towed the club equipment trailer and the kickers over to Lawrence, and Tom checked water levels. He thought it was good for 1-2/3, at that time (August 20th) and since the weather gods have pretty much split time between pleasantly warm and cloudy with snippets of rain since, there shouldn't have been much change if any.

And Dave, I'll send you a story about names that will make you feel better.

                      Names.

I am fine with all the nicknames we give each other. It just bothers me to be called "Meatball" over the stoopid pa system. That being said...I dont think a poll is the way to go. It should be the decision of the race committee and Russ Dodge...thats why we have people in authority..to make desicions for us. Personaly? I dont really care for the 1 2/3, but I am more then happy to go along with what is decided. Daveracer

Of course I was. But It would not be something I would announce over the pa system..lol..you are Darren to the general public.

                              Let Russ make the call

The surveyor needs to make the call, and the race committee decide from there. Those of you that were at Inboard Lawrence in September of 2002 will recall what happened when the inboards ran 1 2/3rds. Somebody didn't check the water level carefully. Two 2.5 stocks hit rocks - one sank, one burned a motor. We went and checked the water level exiting turn 2. One of the divers found a rock in lane four (about lane 10 for outboards) less than 6 inches below the surface. The base water level in the area was knee-high. Everything looked fine when the course was set. The inboard heats were put on hold while we reset to the 1 1/4 (already surveyed and in place for day 2), and the outboard guys ran - because there were no more than five kneelers to a heat. Jim Nilsen was the outboard rep at that one - he'll remeber telling Codling that it looked mighty shallow over there. Inboards have run spring since 2004 due to water levels. They are convinced that the Nisqually quake lifted the lake bottom in that area. This isn't about maybe somebody dinging a prop - it's about going from 60 to 0 in a couple of feet.

Dang! I gotta quit drinking and typing

READ THE CIRCULAR. There is limited to no on site registration. There are penalties for trying to register on site and there is No registration the day(s) of the race. Please read your circular and either mail or submit an online entry by the deadline. It will save you money, and the registrar's a headache.
[/QUOTE] How can you charge me extra if i don't pre register for a race when you guy's don't even know how big the course is? maybe someone want's to wait and see.....I don't feel like braking more 400.00 dollar prop's on that BIG course
