I think you are basing everything on one boat and they are the exception.. No one else has a 40 that goes like there's in the US anywhere..

10 yrs ago , according to my notes, u sold me a really nice 40" motor
M350 based, ie; 1961. Black 'turtle' top, a 2 port 40" block.

My Tohatsu is at the end of its 7 the season and never has had anything done to it other than new fuel filters , reeds, water impeller and plugs , also fuel pump kit and base gasket. If it breaks this weekend it owes me nothing, way more dependable tha n even the Yamatos that I own. I will never vote to add any more weight to this class !!

I don`t think that anyone is proposing any performance enhancing changes to the Tohatsu. Or kicking out the Merc`s. Or adding weight or removing weight. Sometimes these threads take on a life of there own and bring out the paranoid in us.

I'm not asking to kick out anything. It's just unbelievable to me that no one has had the guts to say, HEY! we have a great new motor that people want to buy (and have resurrected the dead class) that you don't need to be a machinist to make run, that anyone can go buy and be in the ballpark. I don't want 1 or 2 1950's model motors that are running to DOMINATE the class. (BTW, I will admit that I sandbagged for years local and non-title races Y-80& CMH SO, please don't give me the Tohatsu & merc both win routine) when it really counts, the merc always seems to dig deep and pull out lap times "unlike" non-championship lap times. (Saw it & ran timer in person, plus, after 20+ years I can see it from the bank) so, with that feel free to tell me how wrong I am. It sucks to have your antique stuff eliminated but as the owner of a bunch of antiques (DM, EM, y-80) you just need to think about the future.

Well after reading all of these posts I can see the positive/negative and pro/con of each post...... So may be time to HIJACK this thread and redirect to how do we get 8-10 races this next year like Centralia, Mt. Home, Jacksonville and Grove where we have great tow money,,,great support from the town and our local sponsor and great water to race on????????
