Ok, I will start
1. the 25 runabout with the Yamato 301/102 over all weight needs to be
increased. 405 lbs is to light. Needs to go to around 430 lbs.
2. The tech manual for Yamato 102/302. Its is legal to run a 302 gear
case on a 102. however, cannot run a 102 gear case on a 302.
reason, THERE IS NO SPEED ADVANTAGE. ( ask Shannon Bowman)the gear
case is the same except for the tail cone on the 302 which BTW has no
measurement. Furthermore, gear case skags are starting to break on the
102's and even the 302. MY 102's have broken 2 skegs and found severe
cracks in another 102 and 302 gear case's. Point being I'am at a race and
I find a bad skeg on my 102. Ok take it off the 302 and I'am ready to
race, If, however, the bad skeg is on the 302 i cannot use the skeg off
102. This rule goes back when the fear factor was that the 302 and its
attaching parts would blow off the 102.bill b

I would like the appropriate Stock and Mod comittees to discuss the following two, related issues and put them on a ballot so that all impacted 25 competitors can vote on them:
1. the carburetor restrictor removed from the Mercury 25XS engine for BOTH 25SSH and 25SSR. It is unlikely that it will matter to most of us if restrictor removal is married to a height restriction (if SORC or safety comittees deem it necessary) just so we don't have to change the **** restrictor between hydro and runabout classes.
2. the Mercury 25XS engine off "probation" or "prototype" status (or whatever it was last season) to become a fully "legal" engine in 25MOD Hydro
Ed,
Thanks for the opportunity to make an "official" request for inclusion on the meeting agenda via Hydroracer.net

Course Sizes
Idea for the agenda:
Consider specific definitions as to how a race course would be set up as measured using a GPS. 3/4 mile = straights of X lenght and Y bouy turns, 1 mile = XXX, 1 1/4 mile = YYY, etc.
This would help standardize courses and allow racers to set up boats for specific courses. Also would allow racers to keep track of specific course times and to test toward improving times.
(I read a similar post by on another boat racing site that suggested such a plan.)Last edited by DougMc; 11-02-2005, 07:03 PM.

Let's not limit the number of manufacturers per class and let's encourage innovation, new technology and competition amongst engine manufacturers. Let's strive to have our best competition on the race course and not on the internet. And let us respect the volunteers that try their best to support and move forward our category.

We already have these
They are called surveyed record courses. We don't need to make non record events tougher on local clubs who already depend volunteers to set up courses etc.

One of Region 4's great races is Denton, MD, and lemme tell ya, no way you'd get a 3/4 mile course in that site. Denton is tiny. And Denton has a massive spectator turnout! We usually limit heats to six boats, but one time the ASH kids decided they wanted to run `em all. Ten ASH boats. YOWZAA! Talk about spectator appeal, it was a great freaking race! The ASh drivers pulled into the pits with big grins and roostertail water running outta their helmets. Denton is way cool. Denton ain't even close to a 3/4 mile course.
Measure Denton up with a GPS, add it to my proposal and make it an official course that could be run in other Regions as well.

1. Set a 5 year plan for a more clear and concise class structure. This should include eliminating smaller classes, or finding ways to grow them(i.e. 25sx and 20 Hot Rod as B Stock class). It should also include what motors will be legal in 5 years, and how long we forsee being able to run them.
2. Re-instating minimum class standards. I would propose 40 boats competing nationally, and 12 at the nationals.
3. Come up with a permenent process for motor transitions, at least in cases where the SORC decides not to attempt parity. I am of obviously against parity, but it is apparent that the SORC will attempt to achieve it in certain classes. Even if this becomes accepted practice, it will still be only reasonable to leave some classes as single motor classes. For these classes we should have a process for smooth transition from one motor to another.Ryan Runne

I propose all 4 outboard catagories ask the Race Management Committee to reinstate the old start rule where the timing starts when the first legal boat crosses the starting line.
