Parity Process
Originally posted by 14-H View PostUnfortunately the 2013 SO Chairman has stated that he has no intention whatsoever to even appoint anyone to any parity committee unless directed to do so by the SORC. This is exactly the reason that the 20 drivers have no confidence in the parity process even though, if done properly, it could work.
The SORC should demand the rule be tightened up.
The SORC will represent what the members request.
1- request a parity committee be appointed
2- advise your commissioner of your desire
3- lobby your position
or pick and chose the rules you like and when you want to enforce them, surely you are aware of how this process works and how to move your agenda through this network.... you are a student of the process. You should support your SORC and work with them to do the right thing.

Not to start up another debate but. Is removing the third motor in the A class any different than removing the third motor, in this case the Sidewinder, in 20SSH?John Runne

Stock Outboard is all about a level playing field.
True parity is one motor per class.
It's RACING, not just another boat ride!

Ironic
I just find it very ironic that the person who seems to be the most against allowing the drivers vote on the legal motors in their class, is the same individual whose single vote removed a currently produced motor from a class.
What's the word that was used?....oh yeah, CONTRADICTION.

Your post does a great job, thank you.

Hi, Reed, I started racing a couple of years ago with the understanding that the Merc would be the next A motor. Apparently you don't care or don't understand. Single dad, 2 kids, really like to do fun things with his kids. Boat racing, really fun, Merc as the next A, can probably keep doing this because the right choices are being made to keep it cost affective and AFFORDABLE. You really need to wake up Reed. Membership keeps dropping. Do you know why or do you care? Cost, bright eyes. I'll still take my kids racing, just not as often. Great job Reed, nice to know you were part of throwing the Merc out of A. All of us dads thank you. Keep up the great work Reed.

The Mercury is a leagel A motor but will not compete with the very good OMC's or the Sidewinders. The real history of the Merc as an A motor was put on a ballot just as the 20 issue and the A drivers killed it by refusing to slow the OMC down so the Merc could compete. I won many local races with the Merc and could beat probably 80 percent of the OMC's in the country but not the top ones at a big race.Destiny is a matter of chance,it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.

In the rules

The only reason to have the Merc in the A Class that made any sense was to have AXS drivers get a little more seat time and to allow other A drivers to achieve national points by beating up on some AXs drivers.
Both could have been accomplished by allowing AXS to step up at local races to make a class.
I did not vote independantly, it was with 1/2 of the commission and with the endorsement of the members that I surveyed.
I did not re-write the rules to favor my agenda, I did not side step the SORC. I did not appoint any commissioners that were not elected to vote on these controversial votes, it was only commissioners sent by their members and the commissioners that elected me. It was a pure representation of the members.
I did however upset the midwest Reg 6 and Reg 7.... they let their force be known by unseating the me and appointing extra commissioners to vote in their direction. The will of the total membership of APBA, equally balanced with all points of view? or slanted to advance a singular agenda.
At least the decision was reversed through the SORC and the current process within the SORC and I have no issue with that.
I lead an effort to carry out a 5 year plan which the midwest had a huge hand in developing but it was scrapped by the same people that developed the plan, in favor of including everyone with all power plants, now they have changed their mind again in favor of excluding only a few...... visionaries
Riddle me this, how many drivers particiapted with the following - Y80 in 25SSR, 35XS or Mercury Mark 55-H in DSH or DSR, or or Mercury/25SS in 25H or 25R.... should 45SS still be a Stock class?
