Don't let Region 6 kill Sidewinder

Don, I ask again. It it that the 20 class will become 'B'. And the 'B' is to become the 15 something or other? Why not just put the Sidewinder in the current "B" class and phase out the 55 year Hot Rod. Looks like the 20ss owners are going to reject the SW anyway. The "B" is pretty much a local class. Just maybe it will grow with an available motor. Frankly, I think that the BSR is the best ride in Stock Racing.

Motor of choice

My opinion, and that of many others, is that the SORC does pick the engine of choice in a class. Either intentionally, or intentionally, the actions that they take indicate what is considered the engine of choice. Perhaps there would be more clarity if we identified what is the preferred engine for each class and move forward.

Your post was very entertaining and it is clear you won't be swayed from your choice to suit your petition. Clearly every time I typed you, Mile Pavlick assumes it only meant Mike Pavlick. The points I have expressed are in support of the process flowing through the SORC.

Your points would be viewed as more neutral if you were not racing the class and current reigning National Champ with a 302 (congratulations by the way).

I oppose your view on this petition, I oppose your view on selecting the size of who can race the class, I oppose your view on concern for how much money your competitors are willing to spend and I do not agree with the list that you have posted as FACT. It is absolutely not personal it is only boat racing.

The SORC along with Race Committees' makes good decisions sometimes and bad decisions sometimes.........when REALLY BAD decisions are made it is up to the members to react and correct those decisions!

I was on the 2010 Commission and watched this debacle unfold in Seattle and my opinion did not win the day then. I am glad the 'right' decision is finally being implemented. Of course this is just my opinion.

I also agree with Mr Reed: None of what is going on with this is in my view any way personal. I also agree that the floodgates will be open in regards to future items the SORC decides on to be overturned a few years later via petetion. That is my biggest worry with this whole thing.

In most folks view, it is better for the government (SORC for example) to be worried about the governed (membership) than the other way round. That seems to bring out the best in the government.

If you do the right things when governing, and listen to the governed before rule making, you should have very little to worry about.The petition is only extra inducement.

Bill: I essentialy agree with what you said. My whole point is that we (the SORC) are elected to do a job...elected by the respective regions to make decisions based on what we believe in and what the members in our regions want. While I do not agree with the petition, I am sure willing to listen to the membership if they do not want the Sidewinder in 20SSH. I just feel, like many others do, that this is something that should be discussed at Reno next year. The United States government does not put to the general public via ballot every single item that is discussed (house of represenatives etc).....elected officals are voted in to office to make decisions....if they make the wrong decision they are voted out of office. Aside from the fact, like I have said in other posts and what I have said in this post, that I do not agree with the petition, that is my big beef with this. I just wish Big Don and Mike would bring it to the SORC. Night for now. 2 US

That reminds me....I still have a brand new, shiny, fresh in the box Tohatsu D stock motor sitting in my shop. These things are fast right out of the crate, and it sure would make somebody a nice early Christmas present!!!!

If we allowed guys that race a class to decide wether or not to let a new motor in we'd ALL be running Antique C Service right now.

As to government, it depends on your view. Do you believe the SORC is like the House of Reps is supposed to be, representing the wishes of the constituents. Or should it be like the Senate is supposed to be, the reps are there to represent the common good of the nation (or APBA). I view SORC members more as senators, maybe others do not.
