...and who ever gave you and Don the authority to say that it isn't? But you guys have sure gone on a hell of a crusade and caused a hell of an unnecessary mess anyway.
Exactly what Ed said. They're petrified that their class may end up like the A/B classes.
talk about a mess...
Mike,
I'm merely pointing out the fact that when it was voted in, it was not voted in as the motor of choice for 20ssH. Perhaps someone can check the notes from the National Meeting to confirm, or let me know otherwise.
We don't have any authority to say what's in the class. We do have the right, however, to voice our concerns and do what we truly think is in the best interest of 20ssH. You can disagree with our logic or approach, and that's fine. If it goes to ballot I encourage you to vote what you think is best.
This guy "gets it"...........the 20ssh class with the restricted 302 as the AVAILABLE and perceived Motor of Choice gives value and convenience by virtue of running in 2 competitive classes via a 20 dollar resrtictor plate!!
Also, having ONE AVAILABLE NEW (reconditioned) motor in a class provides clear direction. Brad, who cares 20 years later why the 302 Yamato was put in 20ssh?? Hell, it took on a life of it's own so to speak and has helped make 20ssh the biggest class in APBA and the easiest way for newer folks to get into boat racing or RETURN to boat racing like the 103-C. Gone are the days of 'one motor one class' but we can try at least as a Commission to provide a Motor Of Choice in our classes to provide a clear path moving forward!!
Tabor City, here we come!!
Let's not confuse issues here. The restricted motors were never intended to be the motors of choice, they were introduced to boost participation. Once the Y80 made it's come back the restricted motors should have been removed.
Secondly, Stock Outboard has never taken any position or any vote to endorse "a motor of choice". The commission has chosen parity at every opportunity.
The J committee legislated a motor of choice by parity or in action. To my knowledge they did not publicly state a motor of choice.
This "motor of choice" concept is opinion and is has not been stated.

I don't know about Mike but I self appointed myself.
Once again your opinion and a few others.
"Ask anyone, I have no friends. I do have some people that put up with me and mostly because they like the rest of my family"
I don't for a minute believe anybody is protecting their trailer box. The past is the past and nothing can change that. We need to look forward to do what is best for all involved. This arguing and finger pointing serves no purpose, particularly on the internet. I am however, concerned about this petition procedure. It is something we must address.
Allow me to preface by saying that in the last two years I've had to put my career first and largely step away from racing. I've been glad for that, because it has been a good reminder that racing is supposed to be fun. It also means that I've been somewhat uninvolved in the politics and decision making. I also don't necessarily fully understand the "mess" in all of the classes. In region 10 we seem to do a good job of coming together and enjoying racing without making, or worrying about the mess of the day. We've also got some of the strongest growth in APBA. Coincidence? Certainly not!
Exactly what Ed said. They're petrified that their class may end up like the A/B classes.

It seems to me that most all of these "messes" are self inflicted, and based more in politics than reality. There also seems to be a propensity for making a mess where there was none, such as this 20ss discussion. In other words, these messes are only as messy as we choose to make them. If the choice was made to view things simply, they could in fact be much simpler. If the choice is made to think everything is a broken mess, then it will be a broken mess. Personally I can't understand that mentality, but unfortunately it seems to be the prevailing mentality in SO politics right now.
Right now there is a critical lack of a unified vision for the SORC. Without a unified vision for the future and the balls to stick with it SO is going to die a slow death by its own hands. We HAVE to stop these small minded pissing matches and stop making messes where none exist. This 20ss discussion is a perfect example of trying to legislate a non-existent problem. Yes we need the SORC, yes we have to make sensible rules, but the pressing issue is the need to come up with a unified vision for the future, a ten year plan if you will, and stick with it. THEN you make small adjustments to the rules as needed without ultimately deviating from the plan. You make rules to address issues that exist, not rules to try to fight imagined and non-existent problems preemptively.
I should add for clarity that even though I bring up the SORC, I realize that this is not a discussion involving, or created by the SORC. It's a discussion brought about by the opinion of Don, Mike and a few others (to borrow some phrasing). I do greatly fear the precident at risk of being set though.
How would I not take that personally, you just got done indicating that we cheated. You were responding to my post. Besides you said all, so you still didn't tell me what I did...
Well other than your delusional thinking that I sold you a small J boat when it was run in A for 10 years.
Don't forget about Ed Hearn an all the ****ty equipment he runs. Man I wish that guy would take better care of his stuff. He would probably be a more successful racer and maybe one day get into the HOC.
Question, how is 20 the largest class in the country? Because someone ran it once? 20 had 109 participants to C's 106. Semantics i guess but still see C as being the largest or i should say strongest in terms of participation. If you use 6 race days as the cut off which is only 3 weekends C has 60 to 20's 47. I'd have to go back and double check the number.
let's call it the second strongest class and stop calling the 302 new.
In terms of continued growth in 20 what you will now loose is the 225 pound participant. Yes, there were a few out here ready to roll next season. I thought it would have become a perfect place for the 175 pound to 225 pound driver to merge into one ultra competitive class.
Oh well, I guess the penalty for being a large person in this sport is your forced to go fast or faster than you'd like.
