Anarchy moves at its own pace

Side Panels for KB's boat bagged and sucking as we type. Fish's top half is out of the mold. Top half weighing in right around 30 lbs.

I was lucky - called him and he had a kit available and Pat Gleason was kind enough to link up with him after returning from nationals last year and bring it back for me. I need to play with my engine now to get it loose and RPMs up... Really enjoyed building it - I love working with wood and learned a lot playing with CF. May need to build a DSH in a year or two (the wife would just LOVE that - NOT!).

          Pre-assembly

Fish finished sanding, grinding and fitting the top and bottom halves for a good fit. A few frames to be added, and then he bonds the two halves together.

KB molds his top this weekend.

              Bottom Weight

Pat, I am curious as to what you consider a lightweight, yet structural sound bottom building them that way ? Is the 26 pounds considered light ?

Looks like you guys have the right stuff going on. Boats look nice. Based off the revolution molds ?

Reason I am asking about weight is I never weighed the bottoms before installing. I have before final trimming, but never a ready to install bottom. I have a lot of guesstimates when building a frame boat, but the all composite I currently build I am not sure what is to be considered lightweight. The CSH size might only be 10% lighter than the mod boats I am building. Not sure.

The 26 lbs that Fish built is the lightest bottom we've done. The one we did for ourselves was a little over 30 lbs, and that was sort of by accident: We ran short of 6 oz CF and used more 9 oz in ours. We also doubled up the okume we put in as backing behind the left sponson bulkhead to better accommodate the skid fin bracket mounting.

I purchased the Arltralite molds a few years back. We have wanted to do this for a while, but needed some hands on expertise with some people who understood the process better than we did. Fish (Aaron Salmon) is a carbon fiber hull specialist on the U-11 unlimited, and Scott "Pyro" Raney has been there in the background to answer any questions that Fish or we had. We also have been EXTREMELY fortunate to have the U-11 team allow us to use their facilities!

We'll let you all know how it comes out and what the final product weighs. The response to our photos and posts has been overwhelming, and we have gotten inquiries from a lot of people about boats. At this point, we are strictly focused on completing these two, running them, seeing how they hold up, and possibly looking at producing a very limited quantity of boats for others in the future.

Dave you could take a mold off one of your existing wood boats like Zach did with his 350ccr. Then you would have a mold for a D size boat bottom. Then Either use Carbon materials for top or just built with wood and do a combo creation of carbon bottom and wood top. BUT do you really need a lighter DSH boat?! LOL

I heard you loud and clear that you are not ready to build any more of these right now. But, next winter, if you decided to, what do you think you would build a new one for $$$$? Thanks Bryan

                              Anarchy Friday!

Fish's boat's bottom is now attached to the top....looking like a raceboat that could float!

KB's cockpit sides, transom and windshield base are curing in the mold. Tomorrow we lay up decks, and bag the top half.
