Thanks Don, I thought Ed set it in his nephews boat. All I can say about that is that my brother was running about 1.5 to 2 off bobby at lock haven with his hot rod that has been falling off a bit. In no way am I saying my brothers hot rod runs 63, well maybe at lambertville ;-)

The only thing that was competition set-up was the prop shaft height. Do you think that Bob Austin Jr and Senior would go and try to set a record
with his competition rig. Many hours in the shop working on boat, and at the lake testing. Hard work equals results, everyone that set records knows that.
Congratulations to all Record setters.

I agree
I agree Worm, there were a lot of tweeks and "appearance" changes to the rig, but the boat itself was not an ASR or a special "Kilo" or "1/4 boat" used only for the record runs.
From my recollection, the 1/4 mile records were to be set using "competition" boats that had previously been used during normal-short course or marathon racing. I hope the 1/4 records don't evolve into another kilo style record where you need to build a special boat in order to have a chance at the record. Set up changes and special propellers will obviously change, but using "kilo" boats for the 1/4 mile record runs goes against the intent of the records.

Could you restrict a 20 ci Hot Rod and have it compete with the 20 ci Sidewinder? Then you could offer a new motor and a low cost option to get folks into the class.
Thoughts??
I do not think putting the 20 CID Hot Rod in is a good answer.14-H

Years ago, when I raced the BSH with a 20 c.i. Hot Rod, it was a large class,
having as many as 10 boats hit the water.. The specific club was Midwest
Powerboat in Minnesota. I do not remember any of the drivers ever having trouble
keeping that B-motor running.. Unfortunately that class died. So be it.. One time,,
with talking to Craig Dewald on the phone ordering another 20 c.i. Hot Rod prop,,
Craig made a statement that in his opinion,, the best ride overall was the 20 c.i. Hot
Rod on a Runabout... Go Figure.. Just my 2 cents worth.

How Many 30-H Members Did APBA Lose?

Sometimes you just have to throw out the ole shoes when they just don't fit anymore and buy a pair of new school Croc's!!......... just sayin.
Same with the 30-H.
Some of us get OLD and don't want to race 20 times a year. Classes liek KG-4 and Mark 30-H could have been scheduled at Divisionals and Nationals. Don't give these classes Hall of Champions status......But "Kicking these moors to the curb' wasn't a smart idea. APBA lost many members, who left with bitter feelings.

These are legal engines to race in Modified Div in APBA, and in the NBRA. They always have been. Nothing dissapeared. Some just ignore the fact there is place for all of these engines.

Around 2000,Cannondale- the famous bicycle maker got into dirt bikes with a four stroke, fuel injected motor with the intake on the FRONT side of the cyl & the exhaust coming out the rear.
You couldn't ride them to the starting line reliably two motos in a row
**** near put them out of buisness too

It did put them out of business! After Cannondale's bicycle division showed a profit of three million $ in their final year of business under original ownership, the motorcycle/atv division lost a crippling 28 million dollars forcing them into bankruptcy. Dorel, a mass conglomerate now owns the Canondale name. They also own Pacific bicycles.
P.S. This is not meant be a slam on the Sidewinder.Last edited by Racers Edge; 10-03-2013, 05:39 PM.
