I too use a 3/16" foam roller cut in thirds to roll on the epoxy. After rolling on epoxy I use a good foam brush, dry, and smooth out the epoxy. It doesn't come out perfect but does come out smoother. I only apply one coat inside and out, lightly sand and finish with paint or varnish.

Dave,
The new boat looks good! I see you have some foam in the background of the pics. What type of foam are you using? I used last-a-foam in my new CSH and it seemed to work well, only time will tell. Also, I see you must have some kind of composite bottom in the new boat. How did you laminate the bottom?Joe Silvestri

Your breath will do it too. But not before your breathless!

Thanks for the Kudos as always, your boat looks good as well - Hats off for the round nose idea. I can not remember the name of the foam, I get it at NOAH's on a regular basis. I install the false floor first making sure that I have it perfectly flush every where on the coaming bottoms and I install the bottom before I install the girders which allows me to leave the bottom larger and trim against the outside stringer to get a perfectly tight joint against the girders and it allows me to layup a clamping jig across the bottom and against the false floor.
When i flip the boat I basically pour in the epoxy on the false floor and level it coat the foam both sides a couple times layup the foam and floorboard and set it all in place, then I leave the false bottom stringers are exposed so I have a clamping jig that apply's pressure evenly to the composite and I can screw or staple the jig to the false floor stringer from inside the boat.
