Good job Doc! I have been fishing that lake for the past 24 years, I know how to catch fish there, just need to bring both rigs. Freds Fish house located at the 101 bridge has some of the best fried catfish around.

      Mountain home

I was the Race director for those five races, some were AOF Nationals, and some were APBA mod nationals. Oklahoma Boat Racing Assoc. had a digital clock even during those days. On Thursday, I tried the clock and it did not work. The race started friday. So I called the police station in Bob Viola's home town and ask if anyone would bring Bob's clock to Mountain Home, over night. Police ofter work at night and are usually looking for a way to earn extra money..I had to pay four hundred dollars to get the clock over night to Mountain Home. The clock is still used by ODA. To day, OBRA has a digital clock that is very tough. Rick and I dropped it in the lake at Mcalester and it ran, well, 'like a clock'......

          home away from home

We are hopeing for 1500 in tow money, contract is not signed yet. This place has got the greatest pits, everyone with water front. We will slide the course to the west a little more than the times passed. This will give room to mill off the course. You can count on this as a great vacation spot, getting in some great fishing, before or after the race.

            MH Pits

Will the pit area hold an RV without any issues. Looking forward to the race. Issues is supporting the weight.

Mountain Home and Lake Norfolk is a beautiful area , definately less commerical than Table Rock or Lake of the Ozarks. Will be a great race site. If you want a nice quiet place to stay after the races , check out the following link.

                Mountain home

Very few places you can get stuck in Ar. The site has plenty of space to find a hard place to park. Bring your fishing pole...

                  time to forget

This one of those times, you would like to forget. We had a video camera the last year or so....It was in the 25mod class start. I was behind Jerry Nunez and I was sure he had jumped...He did beat me that day..I protested the start, so I got to see the video. Well, Jerry was on the line and legal. It was my last time to protest a start, those cameras are real good. I have been a purponent of the video camera every since. Mountain Home! be there are be square...

This is a rough image of the track layout in Pigeon Creek for Mountain Home. Everything should be marked if you can make it out on the reduced jpg.

The APBA Mod Nationals were 1988-89-90-91.
I still have my 1991 APBA Mod Nationals Key Chain.
One eve , after supper,,, Jay Roesner and I were headed back to the
motel and on the side of the road jogging was this older man and a really young
female.. I made a comment to Jay that she has a real nice fanny.. As we got
closer and passed them,, low and behold,, it was Uncle Bob and cousin Wendy.
It was all right,,, we were in Arkansas... That is a true story from 1991.

                          :-) Funny!

I was there in '91. Dick Engler had a new hydro down for me (B&H DMH) that year. I watched the best CMH race I've ever seen at that race (hard to watch them when you're racing them and back then I was racing CMH). VanOver driving Goller's motor with chambers and Witham driving a Brinkman motor with pipes. I'll never forget that race!

TIP: There ain't a good way to get through Arkansas north to south! Do NOT look at a road atlas (does anyone use those anymore?) and think you can take a short cut and save some time. Stay on the major roads. I took a "short cut" to get to Mountain Home and saw some beautiful country. Cost me several hours in time though...
                          ...

OMC FE/SE powerhead parts for sale. Kurcz ported block, Mod 50 pistons and cylinder head, exhaust, etc.

                            Mt Home Stories

The go Kart track, is that still open ? In I think 88, us Mod guys decided to have some fun at the track.... I believe we were banned for life.

Year after that or the next Nationals that was there (Mod only) I was racing in CMH and had a good chance at a win. Sheared a pin going into the first turn in my elimination heat. Sat rest of weekend. But had fun with the local gals.

Mom and Randy Terril won 2 man runabout each year there I believe. I do know they won many 2 man runabout races. Oops, I mean 2 person.

Many more stories, but will leave it at that.
