If this is true the most simple thing would be to move up the existing nationals on the books (Moses Lake 14' and Wakefield 15'). Planning a nationals takes lots of time and lots of effort. Moving up the next planned nationals would make the most sense because A) the town's/host clubs have already started planning on the event (even if off a year or so) B) the SORC/MORC has already approved the next 2 nationals sites C) It's the more fair D) it will stop multiple clubs from coming to a national meeting, making a presentation, and maybe not getting the bid on short notice. D) The next two nationals (14 & 15)are a combined nationals, let keep it that way in 13.
Trust me putting on a nationals in 6 months time (national meeting-August) would be a nightmare for any club, no matter how big a club you are.
And yes i'm suggesting we move up moses lake to 2013, and yes i am the race director. And yes my club could make this event happen in 2013.So i am biased, just FYI.

This conversation is probably premature, with that said I disagree with you. In looking at the timeline your suggested solution would leave the eastern coast without a nationals since Whitney point. That is quite a long run. Let's see if the hosting region can't first move the location.
A better starting place is to of course first understand what happened to the AL site.
The only thing that went wrong was the pleasure boat traffic on Sat. On friday the course was raceable, but during the C Mod. Hydro it was very lumpy. It is only three hrs. longer to Hinton for us, here in Oklahoma and we have never been to Hinton. We hope that someone would work the community and get prize money. If a community wants you things really go smooth and ofter cheaper. We need to lower the entry fees, but some investigation of the profits of sponsoring clubs and the costs of a event that goes for five days should be done. Jeff Carter was a one man show and the IOA members really put on the Nationals. Thanks to Eric Vanover, John Sharp, Bob Koska, and all the IOA members who brought their equipment and worked the event.
Jeff definately had some last minute glitches thrown at him. The details had all been worked out but then did not happen come race time. He had been promised multiple things and then the groups didn't come through. This was no fault of Jeff's. So please think of this in case anyone has thought otherwise.
Jeff organized this event mostly from the front seat of the semi truck he was driving and really did try.
The decision to withdraw from 2013 was made based upon the fact that the entities that had promised him all these things then failed to deliver and he did not want to put any of his friends in a dangerous situation out on the race course.
Please do NOT beat Jeff up, he really does care and is very upset over the things that beyond his control transpired last week.
2013 Nationals
Be patient. I know things are being discussed with both Hinton WV and Whitney Point NY as I type this. It also sounds like Dayton, OH, Wakefield, MI, and Moses Lake WA all are interested. What a novel concept 5 sites all vying to host the biggest race of the year.....
I just hope that everyone now understands the need to keep SO/MOD/J together for the Nationals.

Thank you Jeff for all of your hard work. OBRA put on the NBRA short course championship in Oklahoma back in June. My dad is our president and did most of the work to get the race organized and put on. I know how much time and effort he spent and did have some help from others. Putting on the APBA Nationals and the NAC's for the J and AX classes is even more work. I commend you for all your effort. I know the IOA was a big help with the equipment and pre race set up and thank you to them also. It is disappointing when someone says they will do something (i.e. the lake patrol keeping the boats out) and they don't do what they committed to. Again THANK YOU for all of your work and the event was really good and we were able to get racing done on Saturday so we could have a travel day on Sunday and get home at a decent time.
I have been to many Nat's in MOD, PRO OPC and stock. I really did not see anything wrong with the race, they had to go on hold some due to the wind but that is all. As for pleaure boats at the end of the course that is almost impossible to control if there are any on the lake the DNR boat kept them far away from the course but some rollors will stil make it there. The question is how many MOD boats did not come support the race? They even had some old time drivers come out of the woods to see the race and tell war stories about the old days. Jeff did a good job putting on this racing by himself ( anybody want to try it) . In the past there were many PRO and AOF races held at this same site. Bottom line everbody should pat Jeff on the back for doing this for us.
Thank you Jeff for all of your hard work. Again THANK YOU for all of your work and the event was really good and we were able to get racing done on Saturday so we could have a travel day on Sunday and get home at a decent time.
