Guedo,
You and I have talked and I think it's a great idea to move toward running the same as the rest of the world. I have participated in 14 OSY Worlds and one of the challenges is in being able to have a competitive rig when borrowing once a year to play a different game than we play in the US. Being able to do the development would benefit us on the world stage.
We are on course to submit a proposal to the Pro Commission. I have turned writing of the rule change to someone who is familiar with the process and we are receiving input of how to best perform the change from USA to UIM. Keep in mind, if this passes, this will be the only REAL stock class that is run in Stock/Mod/Pro/J - the opportunities it will open and offer are more promising that anything else that I have heard in a while.
If this passes, I want to setup a Wednesday/Thursday night race schedule on one of the may water-ski lakes we have up here in WA. They are lit, wide enough for a one-pin turn, have concessions and grandstands and on private property. Nachos for thought.
on the LOBMBC video page is a heat from the OSY400 national event held in September 2011..... this shows the water conditions the "Euro" designs can (and do!) compete in / on.
What is the UIM Safety rule concerning helmet color?
Looking at the pictures and videos anything goes..I really dont think John wants to change the safety rules too. Just boat and motor specs to UIM..Helmet colors need a new thread
The reason I ask is that I Refereed a Jet Boat Worlds and many from other countries had painted up helmets. I asked the UIM rep what was the UIM color rule. Seems it is very close to APBA's

If they were jet boats... they may have been strapped in the driver seat... if strapped in the colour might not matter.
Just from looking at UIM races OSY/125 and up, looks like these guy/gals have multiple colored helmets. Just in this photo above there are 4 that look just like street bike helmets
Forget the helmet color and focus your energy on the bigger picture: international rules for an international class that WE (APBA, stock or pro category) cannot micro-manage.
An highly competitive, truly stock class: this has the most potential out of any class we currently run - location, price point, newbies, oldies, etc. All this, with zero development costs -everything we need is already manufactured!
Motor: $2100 plus shipping - no other additional cost/
Boat: $4000+/-
Props: $400++
John, I support your project 100%. The APBA OSY is static.Manly because drivers out grow the class and move on to CSH.
I am just concerned when we have a combined event here in the USA and I hope we do that rules will not be followed.
