Daren, We have a C Mod getting ready to make a come back on the east side of the mountains after seeing how much fun I am having. I like the nasty sound they make in the corners.
I am going to work hard to get some more started. Lee better start pumping out some more pipes
If we get this one rolling I may have to convert another motor into a C mod motor. It will be a 102 this time. I am sure I can find a driver.Mike - One of the Montana Boys

Thank you Craig for the two brand new 4 blade props. They are almost to pretty to put on a boat motor. I have never had a new prop. Can hardly wait for testing at the Montana race. Now I can raise the engine and see what happensMike - One of the Montana Boys

I have one question. If you go out and run and get a GPS reading for say 65MPH and then come in and refuel, making no changes and go back out and get a GPS of 62 what changed or caused the difference???Mike - One of the Montana Boys

Did the setup slip or move?
Everything tight on the motor?
Anything broken?
Was there a significant weather change between runs?
Heres one often overlooked: not all GPS's are created equal. A 12 channel differential GPS is pretty darn accurate. But, even if you have a 12 channel differential if you only have 3 sats locked on your accuracy is terrible.
How often do you check the sat tracking screen on your GPS? Here is a test: drive around for a while in your car and check it out. Where I live I can have anywhere from 2 to 12 sats locked in the space of an hour.
good luck

My Guess
Is the hot dogs ate between heats.
Seriously, in race conditions you can't identify anything that will be casusing your readings to be different. In testing you can.
Race conditions are never the same, period. Water in the boat varies from each heat, roughness, line you drive, how you took the corner vs last time, etc.
I wouldn't sweat the small difference you are seeing between race heats. I would sweat if i saw that when testing. Typically, my test speeds are much higher than race speeds. I see as much as 7 MPH difference. Why is that ? Simply conditions. In testing you strive to make a series tests with everything being equal. In racing you have some yahoo pinching you off in the first turn. See what I mean ?Dave Mason
