Keep it clear!! Nothing is nicer than a new boat with natural wood, paint will come soon enough after the dings occur....

And Marc for answering all the dumb questions. Time to go get it wet.

        • Beautiful job, Can I ask what clear you are using?
Looks better than the Chris-Craft I did and finally got the final coat at 42.

Made it on the water finally. Brought it out on Topaz Lake. It is both in California and Nevada. Quincy used to test here. The first day was pretty rough with boaters. The second time, we had the lake to ourselves. The only problem with the lake is the elevation, 5,000 feet. Loose about 15% hp at this elevation. Out of the box for his first hydroplane, I would say it's darn good. Of course, him being 13, he doesn't think Dad knows how to drive anymore. Dad is still itching for a rush.

My new/used C-Mod back from paint shop, just adding a few decals. First couple times out we ran good, but have a handling issue that I believe is worked out. We will test in a week or two, can't wait.
The big boat is a Monterrey 255 deck boat with Volvo power, not quite the speed as the C-Mod.
