Now I have to roll the boat, scrape and sand the inside and fiberglass that as well. Result: cedar cored composite structure. Frames = gunwales etc - will be white ash, and I'll make a pair of oars with white ash. 9' long, 4' beam. She's a chubby dinghy.
I think the horses are as nicely done as the boat.

          Scott,

Post a picture of it when you're done. (I've built some stitch and glue boats.)

            • Is that the clamping system(tape) that holds the top and bottom while gluing?

              • Tape is merely there to hold deck on while final fitting inside braces. Any other questions? No secrets here!!!!!!

                • Yeah, what kind of clamping is used?

I think the clamping you are referring to is, part of a wood build process, obviously you have realized these are composite. The hulls come out of the mold braced AND square. We then only have to fine tune the braces to the inside of the deck (frames if you are talking wood) and it is ready to assemble. Come out some day and we will walk you through the whole process.

                          • Thanks jasonn, yes I do understand that these boat are not made of wood. Aren't they made with a top half and bottom half? Just wondering how they are put together. I like the idea of something new and they look wonderful. I would like to see one in person, is there going to be one at the winter natls? So far I still lean towards the wood, one reason I just like the look of natural grain and I can work with wood.

Thanks again and keep the pics coming!!

                            • Kevin...Yours will be a lot easier to repair, when heaven forbid, it gets an "ouchie'

The 2 piece apparantly doesnt always "become 1 piece" forever! I can tell you about a 120 that didnt stick togethor very long. Maybe you heard about it!!

                              Good luck at Alex... Pitboss77
