Too light?? I am 135lbs suited up and race a DSH. Seems to work out ok...

Situations are, as is, where I race with a Mercury. If I were to purchase a new setup now, without a doubt, I would go with a Tohatsu. Mind you, this opinion is not based on performance, as I feel the two motors/setups are quite equal, but based on availability of replacement parts. (I currently are in need of a new tail cone to my lower unit, but am very-much-so struggling to find a replacement one.) JP

You can have one made with custom oversize threads suited to your case
by any one with a lathe. Cost is usually what u pay for good parts on ebay.
Same goes for the bearing carrier.

Steve, Dave already responded that I did not have any left at this time and inquired on having some made, but there was not enough interest. Kudos to Dave for trying to keep the 44XS supplied with parts..........

PS: I hear Sid Bass has been REAL busy at the shop.........

ANYWAYS, this thread is Merc 44XS vs. Tohatsu......NOT the part I am looking for .........sorry
