  • Snowmobiling Stag Weekend 06

Well I'm lucky to tell everyone that there will be another stag weekend this year. For those of you who have been to them before you know whats it about. I've heard that there are about 30 entries this year. Please send me or put a note on here if you are planning on making it.
For those of you who might want to come but don't have the gear. You can rent it, or We might be able to find you something.

The dates will be Feb10/11. I think some people might get there a day before that to do some testing. I'm calling and getting 10 rooms blocked off for this. Sounds like we might need to call early this year to get them. Also if you are looking at renting a sled I'd call early too.

Now with all this being said. Let the fun begin. Spud.

Ok here is the low down. We are going to ride out of the eastern UP this year. The city we will ride from is Strongs Michigan. We have reserverd a whole hotel that will have accomodations for 17 to 25 people depending on if you sleep 2 in a double bed. I have a cabin right down the road that will accommodate around 12. Some of this gang have been to the cabin. At the cabin we have a pole barn that has one end that would resemble a bar. It has a actual bar from a restaurant, pool table, 52 inch big screen with cable so we can watch the race. The hotel is right next to gas station and general store. Resturant across street from hotel has an awsome buffett and great food. 2 bars 1 block away. Now the regular tour guides will stage from the hotel. I think they will have reserved about half this hotel. So we need to get anyone who is thinking of going to give me a call (cell#1-248-568-4622). Once we have the whole hotel filled and i figure out who I am putting up at the cabin we will then start to reserve rooms across the street at another hotel. One nice thing here is if you make a late showing we always can utilize floor space at the cabin. If you don't commit to your hotel early this area fills up fast and you will have a tough time finding accommodations. If you are going to need to rent a sled we will need a head count so we can have the dealer who rents them know as he brings them right to the hotel. If we have just a few who need a sled we may have a couple extra to loan out. This weekend is a good time!!!! Call me early on as the hotel is on a first come first serve basis. The cabin will be wild so if you need peace after you ride then get one of the rooms quick. My work # is 1-810-606-8266. If I don't answer the cell# above then try there in the day. At night my home # is 1-248-363-0304. Oks boys the 5 minute gun just went off. Owe ya from where we are riding from we may have a chance to ride to mackinaw island. Nothing better than pulling my 1000cc Thundercat up in downtown and pulling a holeshot down the main drag. We will visit 2 casinos so if you are feeling luckey maybe you can have your weekend paid for. We will hit Paridise as we always do. We do have a few that are going up Thursday night so if that is what you would like to do then we need to know that also as the hotel we have reserverd only has a few rooms for Thursday night. I will keep everyone updated thru Hydroracer. How about those New York or New Jersey guys, you up to it this year. Keep me posted if you are going. Mike

Ok boys here is the pricing if you need a sled. Arctic Cat Z570 for 179 per day. They have a Z440 for 10 bucs less or a 2 up sled for 199 per day.( Don Hageral you can ride behind Chris and hit all the spots with us) The place they rent the sleds from is about 5 miles away from the hotel. They usually require a credit card deposit so if you break it you pay to fix it. For those of you that don't have a sled if you give me a call we may have a couple options open for you. I am thinking we only had a few last year that needed to rent. Jessie call me if you and your group is coming. I have your old sled up and running good. I also have a couple in the stable. Again the early birds get the worm. Mike

Just wanted to make sure everyone knows we are going to be going from Strongs Michigan rather than Grand Maries This is only 45 minutes north of the Mackinaw Bridge. The dates are Feburary 10th and 11th We have reserved a whole hotel in Strongs so if you are going, you need to call me at the numbers i listed in the post above. Hotels go fast in this area so don't wait. In this area they have 3 trail groomers that groom twice a day so the trails are super. You will get to see the Taquminan Falls up close and personal. You go to the back side thru the woods and can go down and go right under the falls and take some real cool pictures. If we weather stays cold we will go to Mackinaw Island. Now this trip really gets the adrenilin flowing. We have boat racers that haven't pulled the trigger on there race boats and I think its the 2 stroke smoke that gets them all worked up. Last year we had 30 sleds get the flag dropped and we all took off like the start of the Winabaygo Marathon. And you would have thought that there was a huge pot of gold we going to get when we got to the first bar we we had planned to visit 40miles away. If you attended the go cart adventure at Whitney Point. Imagine these same folks with between 100 to 170 hp snowmobiles going at it for 40 miles. This is the tru definition of big boys with there toys. Anyway don't miss this super fun trip. Mikey

                Sounds fantastic!

But what about people who don't wanna go 100-170? We've got younger kids and 40-50 is about right for us. Is it possible for slow-pokes to come too?

Oops... I missed the "stag" part. I am assuming this means "big boys only", right?

If so, just ignore my last reply. Thanks.

                      Huh???

I think I am gonna have to drop the wife & kids @ her folks in Cheboygan & tag in.

What weapon will I bring? I will make sure the boys here @ work know I am gonna need to hang w/the Big Cat when I pull the trigger!

Mikey- mark me down for some floor space in the cabin.

The 100 to 170 was the horspower rating for these toys we get to enjoy. We ride at speeds from 30mph and up. As far as i,m concerned anyone is welcome. Requires average to above average riding skills. We have been know to log 250 miles in a day.
So this event was once lead by a B Runabout driver named Fred Miller. He drove his sled very similar to the way drove the Pratt Runabout back in the late 60s. Now we have catch me if you can Jimmy Fox and I'll see Ya!!! Don Hagrel for leaders. These boys are from the famous WILD ONES!!! You remember the way it goes. DRINK BEER-DRINK BEER-DRINK BEER GOD DAMM DRINK BEER. Now they have a couple other guys that keep us in line. One hails from the Frozen Tundra of Wisconsin Spudddddddd!!!! HemPPPP getting Revvy with it. And our most respected elder from the DEEP East the famous Jack WHERE"S MY BLACK RUSSIAN NeellyYYYY all the way from Quincy Mass. We all show up and we debate on what sled is best . Arctic Cat, Ski Doo, Yamaha. They all have something special. Anyone who wants to partake in this fun please dont hesitate to call me. See Ya Mikey!!!!

Kevin Ladd got me into this trip three years ago, now I own half a sled and count down the days following the Nationals! The first year I went I had only been on a sled once before. Everyone was very helpful and tolerant they look out for you. You are going to be dead last but they stop every 30-45 minutes and let let the pack tighthen up and account for everyone. It is a great time even for the begginer, you will be sore though!!! Really sore, my legs take a weak to recover from the trip!!

                              Later,
